just happened just then.
driving for about 30mins on a 31 degree day.
idle is at 100rpm, it just suddenly dropped, seems like it wants to stall but won't.
i turned off the car, started it back up, and then idled fine for about 30 secs then started to drop to 100rpm.
car drives fine, a bit of jerking when it wants to take off,but it does.
also, when it's cold, it'd idle fine.

checked all vacuum hoses and sensors are plugged in.
plugs are probably 10k kms old.
leads are 2 years oem honda.

anything else i could check?

cheers

MAP, TPS, IACV, Dist., timing, and hoses. Some you have already checked but check them again, might have missed something. Got gas?

No CEL's?

Dont forget also the hot topic of late, the main relay.

Clean the Throttle Body, check the spark plugs and sparkplug wire resistance, clean the white powder from the Dizzy cap, clean the IACV screen and screw in the FITV knob, use 98RON fuel to give the fuel system a refresh.

maybe even just heatsoak?

i dunno. im noob

okay a bit of a update, when it's cold, it'd idle fine.

Heatsoak Ftw!!!

Is there something you can alter for cold and warm idle. Could be something to do with that.

reset ur ecu.

because i think its because of the recent warmer weather. ur ecu is learning all this information and trying to balance out your air/fuel ratio etc.

wouldn't hurt to just pull the ecu and try from there. my vote is still on heatsoak

destrukshn
13-10-2006, 03:33 PM
yeah but even with heatsoak, it should not drop down to 100rpm

try leaving ur bonnet up and leaving the car running for 2mins

see if the idle drops then

without the IACV connected it will drop to about 400rpm.

If u got A/C is it turned off?

i've been having the EXACT same prob. feels horrible at the traffic lights and it feels like its gonna stall. but the revs go up and down sometimes. and it only happens to me wen its 30C+ weather. but i might give my throttlebody a cleaning like eurodude said. i try turing off the AC but it doesnt help! damn summer

i did turn it on for a while, didn't do it
i just replaced the dizzy cap as well.
a/c is off.

CRXer

was thinkin along the lines of IACV not opening + dirty & A/C on could = 100rpm.

it's odd, i'm leaving the car running right now.
it's been about 10 mins.
idling normally.

destrukshn
13-10-2006, 05:23 PM
left it diling for about 20 mins.
nothing?
lol.

CRXer
13-10-2006, 05:28 PM
Now drive it for 20 mins before the weather cools down too much & see what happens.

destrukshn
13-10-2006, 05:29 PM
no where to drive it to.
lol.
=/
you think it could be the ICM?

CRXer
13-10-2006, 05:43 PM
Could be anything everybody listed, have u done a code check yet?

destrukshn
13-10-2006, 05:46 PM
yes nothing has come up

CRXer

In that case,I'd prob throw a spare main relay in the glovebox if u got one & pull the IACV off & give it a clean.

Also check the wiring on the IACV for any loose connections, could even be an ignition switch prob or ECU itself.

destrukshn
13-10-2006, 05:58 PM
ignition switch no, replaced about 1.5 years ago.
probably get a main relay tomorrow from work. lol.
iacv i'll do that tomorrow.
ECU? what are the chances of that? very unlikely wouldn't it?

CRXer
13-10-2006, 06:00 PM
Yes,fairly unlikely, just tryin to list all possibles.

destrukshn
13-10-2006, 06:10 PM
yeah i know.
i just it may be one of those hit and miss type of situations.. one of my old mechanics says it's the ICM,
so either way, i'm gonna get that replaced with the relay.

When was the last time u cleaned the throttle body? A dirty throttle bypass pipee sounds like the most probable cause. The humidity/heat may have amplified the problem.

My EG was idling quite low, cleaned the throttle body and it was good as new.

about 10,000kms ago i cleaned the throttle body, so about 6 months ago.

its too damn hot today to clean the throttle body.... bloody 38C heat. i should prolly get on that tmrw

destrukshn
14-10-2006, 10:39 AM
i just cleaned the throttle body just then.
lol
doesn't take long dude.
lol.

any improvement? or still have that prob?

destrukshn
15-10-2006, 07:13 PM
dunnoes, hasn't been that hot for it to happen again?

bennjamin
15-10-2006, 07:21 PM
has anyone mentioned the main relay ?
I had the exact same symptons during "hotter" days.
It was heatsoak ~ the main relay needed a resolder and a DIY "vent" of the cover too.

destrukshn
15-10-2006, 08:03 PM
where it would just drop in RPM?
to about 100 rpm?

bennjamin
15-10-2006, 08:05 PM
yes it did what you describe. Soon after the car would stall and wont start up again until teh main relay was cooled down.
Dosent hurt to check it out dude

destrukshn
15-10-2006, 08:13 PM
sure will.. when i get the chance.
lol, hopefully, tomorrow, gotta install my a/c back in as well.
lol.
