so on saturday i HAD to use my air con, i don't use it often but damn it was hot!!

i noticed that my car would idle at around 300-500 and i'm just curious as to whether this is bad for my car or if i need to get it checked out.

any ideas?

searched and found something about it might be the compressor? can anyone confirm?

300-500 rpm? That seems low. Could be that the compressor has an issue.

are u sure its that low

my revs round 600-700....

btw i ask if ur sure cause from what i can remember u cant really tell how many revs its on wen its under 500 revs...(its too close to the zero)

yeah sorry i read it wrong, it normally idles at around 800rpm and when the air con is on its around 500-600rpm

haha i wrote my original post at work, got in my car after and realised what i wrote haha

that would be a steper motor problem! it bumps up the idle when loads like the air con or engine fans come on! i would go get it checked out by some one like me a mechanic

Clean the throttle body and it will be as good as new.

well it might be! but if you teke out the steper motor as well! make shure you dont lose the o-ring. then clean it with a tooth brush and sum deacent carby cleaner! but if its still playin up take it to ur honda dealer!

if your steper moter is playing up then your car will not idle properly!!!! that simple! trust me! i deal with this kind of crap every day!!!now i will give you all a simple test to do! turn your car on and let it idle for a minute or so the turn your a/c on if the engine idles up (raises the idle by about 100 to 200 rpm) then yor steper mtr is ok! BUT then try it when the car is HOT! if it doesnt idle up when its hot then you need 2 replace your steper mtr! but it is pretty expencive

no integra ive seen uses a stepper motor for idle control, its done by a valve, but i get ya drift, lot of other cars do use steppers.

check your A/C signal to the ecu for shorts or open circuit. Its a common wire that runs between the A/C diode & pressure switch & also taps off to ECU.The wire tells the ecu that the A/C thermostat wants the compressor turned on & the ecu can do this & adjust the idle accordingly as well.

but i'd prob have a good look at the IACV first as mentioned above.

sorry,i should of said its done by solenoid control of a valve, not by just a valve, steppers can be used to control valves also.
