Hi guys,

I'm looking at fitting the JDM 4-1 header I have onto my 96 EK4. When I did a test fit a while back I found that the bracket at the back of the motor that attached to the collector (rear of header) on my car is too short to attach to the JDM header in the factory locating position.

Does the B18 use a different bracket off the back of the motor that would work? I'd rather use an off the shelf part than have another bracket made up.

What did you guys who have JDM headers use to secure the header at the back?

Please only answer this if you have firsthand knowledge with this. :)

you need a different lower bracket - pm "JDM YARD" for one ( its a OEM honda item)

Otherwise , its not needed. Just make sure you have a flexpipe or similar.

Thanks.

I'll pm JDM yard - I'd rather have a bracket holding the rear of the header as well.

Just an FYI for anybody who might be watching this thread. JDM Yard got back to me and told me that there is a Honda bracket to suit the header but it is made for the B18 and it won't work with my B16 due to being too short.

Looks like I'll have to get a bracket made.

Thanks anyway guys.

PM Blitz, I think he was after the same thing, although he might have just ran it without the bracket. Also Limbo has the same header on his B16a EK4 as well, might wanna PM him as well, AFAIK, it is not necessary to have that bracket though..

Thanks guys. I was looking to buy the bracket before I took the car to a friends to do the install so he can modifiy any flanges I might need changed. I still have to get the larger cat so I'll look at whether I go with a flex pipe or make up a bracket. Depends on what fits best with the cat I wind up buying I guess.

nar, don't "need" too. I've used the same gasket for like 5 different headers.

running that set up
dont need bracket i would recommend you use the oem 2.5 " cat
with the donut instead of going custom

What OEM 2.5 cat are you using? What b-pipe?

im using jdm type r cat
you need to add about 10cm to a oz spec b pipe to make it fit
jdm cat is a alot smaller thats why

Thanks. I was wondering what cat you were using as I understand JDM cats are shorter. I'm also thinking of using an aftermarket b-pipe, it's a pain figuring out what parts to use because of the different pipe diameters and lengths and not being able to just bolt the JDM cat up to the stock cat or b-pipe because of the pipe diameter.

I'll get there... Thanks.
