Hey,

Recently bought a DC2R and when you stand on the brake the park lights come on and all the dash lights illuminate. Totally weird. Anyway i take it this is not normal, the car has been fitted with the following mods that require tampering with the electricals:

- Philips HID kit
- Field VTEC controller
- Panasonic Head Unit

If anyone could shed some light on my problem then that would be much appreciated. I am guessing I will need to go see an auto electrician.

Cheers for you help

well posted

helps when the mods are listed.

pull the brake light fuse out in the engine bay fuse box & see if it still does it?
this will help narrow it down to whether the fault is actually feeding off this circuit or its wiring just jammed in the brake pedal or similar.

also note anything else that stopped workin properly when the fuse is out.

FYI, on a dc, park lights on the rear (tail lights) [not sure about front parkers], and dash lights are linked to the dimming wire behind the head unit. You may want to just make sure that the ground wire being fed to the head unit is not shorting, or being grounded some where.

Best thing, get behind the head unit, make sure that the dimmer wire COMING FROM THE CAR has been taped up and is not shorting or HOOKED up to anything else.

Thats all i can think of right now. Hope this makes sense.

BTW yes, well posted, thats the kind of posts that allow other people to help you. Good stuff.

lol

change your rear brake lamp globes.

one of them is melted and bridging the two circuits.

very simple fix

Haha,of course,theres your answer.

Maybe not a good idea to list all the mods,my head got stuck under the dash in a shitload of possibilities.

How perfectly simple.

Ok problem solved. I didnt actually fix it but my mechanic did. He said that the rear right brake light had a single filament bulb in it. So yeah needed a double filament bulb. Such an easy fix. He picked it up while replacing the brake fluid today.

Cheers for all your help much appreciated.

no probs,

single filament globe bridge both terminals on the globe holder.
