Hey all,

I recently did a rebuild of my motor about 2 months ago. i got a yellow (defect notice) the other day and took it over the pits yesterday and they told me i have a slight oil leek on my gearbox at the selector shaft entering the box.

When putting my box back together on the rebuild i forgot if the seal can be replaced from the outside....

im just inquiring because i have a bad feeling that im going to have to remove my whole gearbox to replace a little seal.

Nope, it should come out with a little force. Just pull off the shifter bar and slide the old one off and put the new one on. You will have to refill the tranny, but that's no biggie!

Yep same problem here as well it is ussually caused when tapping out the pin if it takes a bit of effort to get it out. Make sure you are carefull putting the retainer pin back in so you dont cause the new one to leak as well.

Retainer pin?

is that that cylinder looking thing with a Teeth looking gap through it? lol bad explination

even the guy at honda couldnt figure it out, we had to go through the blue prints to explain to him.

i end up ordering the Lug, seel and that pin looking thing has been on back order for 4 months as that was something i stuffed up when i did the rebuild. i managed to fix it up a little to put it back in. until i get the new one

Yes the retainer pin is the "cylinder looking thing with a Teeth looking gap through it". Most parts guys will know what you are talking about, it's finding the part that sucks. We find part numbers in sections they shouldn't be in. Like paint codes, look at the mirrors! Anyways lube the parts up before putting that seal in, it'll help in getting it in place.
