Just thought i would ask some of you more expienrced drivers, burnout kings the best way to smoke some rubber in a front wheel drive.. before you close the thread this is related to legal burnouts eg at Winton Race way in a burnout compertition.

Anyways what do people think is the best way to do this while putting the least amount of stress on motor and transmision (auto) and car in general.

Reverse dounut?
Have the handbrake on?
normal brake on?
or other?

thanks for you help guys.

As above, but use second gear.

Your at the drags on the burn out pad (on water)

Use 2nd gear for a better burn out.

More spin, more heat, more smoke, all good.

i find giving it sum reverse at the beginning just rolling backwards BOOTFULL of revs handbrake up dump in first, once you got a bit of heat in the tyres slam second and walla

auto is easy, basically the same procedure, put it in first gear, floor it pull up the handbrake, it should work in any car even excels, lanos etc.

i tried the handbrake technique and the car just spins spins but no smoke.
do u guys change gears while it hits rev limiter??

ull be lukcy to get it happening in an auto man, unless you do a nuetral to 2 dump, you might end up witth your gearbox in the rear view though

smoke action, you gotta get in 2nd gear to get serious smoke happening, its a bit hard at the beginning to manage the 1-2 shift, because its gotta be really quick, but once you get it in 2nd hold the revs up high (more wheel speed more smoke)

If in doubt, bit off kero under each wheel always helps too

also heard it helps if your tires are pumped up nice and tight. less traction and grip so i'm told.

rofl what ever you do DO NOT ROLL BACK AND SLAM IT INTO FIRST IN AN AUTO. i did that mistakenly and split the auto tranny casing open in my old 626 xD~

auto- i dunno

manual - handbrake up- redline clutch dump- and then throttle modulation (keeping it in vtec yo!) = standstill ftw

Who the hell takes a stock auto down to the track and asks for burnout advise?

Its not like you need to warm the slicks up...

you better floor it and then pull the handbrake
wouldnt that just lock the rears and pull them along?

if you get enough spin within to low rpms, it should stay in one spot.

lmfao way to go thread digger!

broken gearbox yo.
lol.

haha i broke my celica box by doing that lmfao spun for ages tho, got home went to reverse into driveway and it didnt have a reversegear anymore lol took her for a drive and let her cool off and luki;y it worked again, apart from the big clunk noise going into reverse that is lmfao.

haha and i'd like to take this opertunity to say when it comes to cars some police are stupids! i got fined for doing a burnout and when i got pulled over the officer checked my rear tyres >_<" luki they let me off lightly with only a neg driving still $308 and 3 points tho, was so worth it tho :cool::cool:

as per thread starter - READ :)

This is for OFF ROAD DRAG STRIP USE :)

At the "drags" the section where you do a burnout is lubricated with water. This means the wheels will spin quite easy with little stress on your drivetrain.

For a FWD , drive up to the line , rip up teh handbrake and rest your feet on the clutch and throttle. Depending on what car (5spd or 6spd) simply feather then release the clutch with the appropriate revs to make the wheels spin and "heat up".

FYI this is for semi or slick tyres only. Any normal road tyres have no benefit from a burnout

AH thankyou bennjamin i see now

i thought they wer reffering to the idiot commodore/b+s type of burnouts =/

waste of rubber and money and not safe at all

yes... warming up ur tyres before running is a good idea... i used to do laps to do this, iv never dragged tho lol
