well, it seems like my tranny is about to go, im currently at 109k. I hear a clunking sound everytime i put it from N to R. I went to hanny's to ask if they can do anything to reinforce or prevent the gearbox from breaking down by removing the part thats causing the problem but they said theres nothing u can do except change tranny fluid every 15-20k.

But i have read somewhere that said u just change a bearing and it should solve the problem. Can any1 tell me about this?

can any1 recommend a reputatable tranny place i can go to?

you would have to pull the gear box apart to do that.

are the gear slipping ? i think most honda make a noise when changing gear on the auto box. P to R. N to R.

how much you willing to spend?there is a common problem with them, sooner or later you'll loose dirve and the gears cold and it will start slipping and flarring in gears. is there a 'whirring' noise in park or neutral?i recommond you get a exchange box.a full overhaul could cost you up to $6,000 to $7,000.an exchanged fully rebuilt swap your looking at $4500 with 2year 20,000 kms warranty.the main problem is too much clearance in the clutch packs and normally the thrust bearings on the main shafts collapse.

i got quoted a rebuild of $2300. well if the problem is known, isn't there a place that can do seomthin about it b4 it actually demolishes the gear box?

2300 is a lil too cheap. i'd be curious as to what kinda workmanship and warranty you would be getting for that

yeah 2300 is too cheap so you would have to question what they do a proper one would cost you seomting lke 3600-4k depending on what part has shitted itself. Why dont you do some research on a 5 speed as they are about $2600 odd new and do a conversion. Those tip tronic boxes are a pile of shit and fixing them wont guarentee it wont shit themselves again in the future.

you can swap the transmission for a rebuilt one, since the rebuilt one would have new parts, and would be cheaper...shop around...

Im assuming you are talking about a 100k service? they dont adjust tappets only every 40k.

auto trannys were about the same, but manuals were more rare cause they went like hotcakes...
point is dont fork out big money and rebuild, shop around and see if u can just replace it, might be cheaper and better option...
