hi ppl,
Yeah i think alpine reallly screw up their 2006 HU deck.
The last good deck made were the 9855r
Alpine curent model HU from what i heard from dealer/supplier of alpine product say that alpine changed to a different circuit which was cheaper to lower the HU cost cos they weren't selling enough of it.
Many good features were taken away (sure there is better speed ipod control)
but all the good features for tuning is gone
Features gone in alpine 2006 range:
Bass engine Pro
-6ch Xover
-Graphic and Parametric Equaliser
-Time Correction (Time Alignment)
and other small feature taken away are:
-Motorised faceplate
-Multicolour illumination
Model:
cda 9857
is only 2 volt preout
dva 9861E
4 volt preout but why doesnt top of the range have biolite?
and it better if they made top of the range deck have good features and for the dvd part is good for large song storage and video playback but i prefer the tuning feature cos IMO who wants CD player with all the good features gone and also a deck that play DVD without screen, usually TV/DVD is the prefer choice.
To get the extra fine tuning features for the 2006 model a processor(PXA H701) is require which is like $800 on top and more if you want a processor controller( RUX C701). I have heard a guy on caraudio forum running these HU with the processor, he still was't impress so he got himself the 2005 model DVA 9965E which cost $2299 which looked exactly like the 9855r but with colour biolite display and dvd feature but was a better SQ HU than the 9855r. I think it was equilivant to the eclipse cd 7000 but overall it was better than the eclipse cd 7000 (cos the cd 7000 look pretty cheap like sumthing in supercheap)
The 2006 deck, SQ is still good and is still a good deck to have but alpine seem to go backward with their 2006 product and im quite disappointed.
That why i got the 9855r
To me is very important to have those audio tuning features for fine tuning audio especially audio in car as it is very unpredictable eg. even tho your speaker is good but in a car environment and how its install, its performance is not at an optimized point so fine tuning come in handy to bring out the best or fine tune as we say.
I dont mind paying more for the features especially for SQ system but i guess cheap price appeal to consumer more than quality and features
What do you guys think?
