View Full Version : CF hood install
Possible a silly question... but how difficult is it to install a CF hood? Is it just a matter of removing a few bolts and voila or will it require a certain amount of fiddling / alignment?
Car in question is an EK4.
PS: Tried searching but couldn't find anything.

As above - easy.
Takes 10 mins with a mate to hold it up while u undo the 4 x 12mm bolts holding the old bonnet on , then replacing the opposite way.
*NOTE*
DO NOT keep a CF hood held up on the stock "bonnet arm" for long periods of time, as it will warp the bonnet.
WOO HOO... that's exactly how easy i was hoping it'd be :D

Anything is easy if you know what to do/done it before. Telling someone that has never done it before, that its 'easy' is not always the best way to go about it.
There may be some fidly 'fine' adjustment to do to get the bonnet aligned straight and adjusting the latch & rubber stopper height on both sides.
first remove your washer nossle. push them out from under the bonnet and unplug the tubing.
they are two bolts on either side of the OEM hood. undo the bottom one first of either side, have a friend hold your hood and support it while you remove the final top one from either side.
once off simply repeat the step backwards with your CF hood.
putting a hood on is harder than taking if off. just make sure its aligned properly.
GL yo :) easy 10min job

4 bolts should be 12mm
you got to b crazy to not be able to do it
best recommend 2 man job at least
As above - easy.

Thats the cheater's way...I did it on my own using my head to balance the bonnets!
haha thanks for all the replies.
Just to confirm the bolts are 10mm, and it took closer to 15min with two people ;)

dude if you ever haf a car crash, the CF bonnet will not bend like normal bonnets do.... and it will go through your windscreen and right across your neck..
the end result will be your head on the floor and your body still on the seat..
if your lucky it will slice you underneath your chest.. it also depends on your seating position and your natural height.. but at the end of the day.. you'll still be burried 6 feet at lidcombe cemetary...
CF bonnets r a no go zone.. just paint ure bonnet black yo. ^_^
peace^^
