Hi Guys,

Needing some expertise in this area....
Not sure what may be causing this but when i drive around all gears are working fine and slot in perfectly, however occasionally when i put the car into 5th gear it is now starting to crunch, its not a loud crunch but its now happening maybe 4 outta 10 times.
The only way to stop it from doing this is to softly place it into 5th and lengthening the ride on the clutch....

Am i up for a new gearbox?? :(

if your having difficulty shifting into gear and your experiencing crunching, presuming that you have the clutch depressed all the way, it sounds like you have a synchro problem.

Before you go getting quotes on new gearboxes and synchros, make sure your clutch is adjusted properly. If its a cable gb this is possible, hydraulic clutches have no availability for adjustment.

Then change the gearbox oil, this generally will make a difference considering its not happening ALL the time. If this still doesnt clear it up then you have to foot the bill for a new GB or replaced synchro;s.

OR you can double clutch between gears to make the shift smoother
