coilover issue

so its been a while now since i put my coiloivers on and i just used the stock dust covers from the original setup. at the back they are a soft plastic which is fine and dandy. but at the front they are a metal material and have managed to scrape half of my adjustable thread of my coilovers. to add injury to insult they are making noises because of they're occasional rubbing.
question. do any places sell rubber covers. ive tried a few places but all the ones the sell are to larger diameter to fit inside my springs. need to be less than about 7cm external diameter.

or would i be safer just to take the damn things off?

what "coilovers" do you refer to ?
Are they coilover sleeves or actual stand-alone colivers ?
You can get rubbercovers off say EK standard shocks that will fit nps.
