Disclaimer: The following is provided as a GUIDE ONLY, and neither myself nor Ozhonda take any responsibility for the outcomes of someone else doing the following. You follow these steps at your own risk!

car: eg civic with d16y4 motor, this is basic guide, practically same thing for most hondas.
Aim: changing power steering and a/c belt
time: about 30mins to 1 hour

tools used:
* jack
* 2 stands
* creeper
* 1/2 drive breaker bar, rachet, extension, 14mm socket
* 3/8 drive rachet, 12mm socket
* 1/4 drive rachet, extension(s), 10mm socket
* 12mm and 14mm ring spanners

and of course power steering and a/c belt.

step 1:
at the front of the car find the jacking point, which is circled, place the jack there and start jacking, till the car is high enough to put stands on.

http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/8083/1zg8.jpg

step 2:
place stands underneath car, i used the jack points on the side of the car, which is also circled.

http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/7654/2hk9.jpg

step 3:
undo the bolts the bolts on the splash tray, as shown, and fold it back, as shown enough so you can work with.

http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/5302/3ln9.jpg

http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/1480/4sq5.jpg

http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/5791/5yp8.jpg

step 4:
undo the 2 12mm bolts on the side of the power steering pump, just lightly, enough so it can move up and down, i used the 3/8drive rachet and also the ring spanner as it was easier for the lower bolt.
http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/3739/6tv3.jpg
then you see a small 10mm bolt on top, that's the tensioner, i used the 1/4 drive rachet for this
http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/3069/7oo3.jpg
undo this bolt, untill you can get the belt off the pump, then you go under neath the car and take it off.
http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/7263/8rg0.jpg

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/866/9so3.jpg

step 5: undo the mount, i used a 1/2 drive breaker bar, to crack it with a 14mm socket, then used the rachet to take it off. it should be just hanging off the rails a bit now, you have to completely take off the bolts.

http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/2790/12pu5.jpg

step 6:
underneath the car you will see the tenionser for the a/c belt, use the 14mm spanner to undo this slightly
http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/3405/10rc1.jpg
then, go to the top and inbtween the dipstick and camgear cover, if you look straight down, that's the tensioner bolt, under do that all the way down. you can't see the bolt in the pic with the pic, but you will when you see it personally. i had to use a couple of extentions becuase it goes down a bit far, also i used aht 1/4 drive rachet 10mm socket
http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/305/11zn5.jpg

step 7:
now you take off the a/c belt, you have to kinda manuevure it between chassis rails and the mount.

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/957/14bw5.jpg

http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/2651/13sc7.jpg

now you do everything in reverse order, of course using your new belts. lol.

so it's
* put a/c belt on
* do up engine mount (2x 14mm bolts)
* do up a/c tensioner bolt ontop. (1x 10mm bolt)
* lock the a/c tensioner bolt, on the tensioner itself (1x 14mm bolt)
* put on power steering belt
* tension it at the top (1x 10mm bolt)
* tighten the pump onto the bracket (2x 12mm bolts)
* fold the splash tray back to normal (4x 10mm bolts)
* raise car to get stands out, then lower car, start her up.

NOTE: for begginners, before you lock the pump and compressor into place, start the car, listen for squeeling, if there is, tighten the tensioner more, once there is no more squeeling, lock the pump and compressor into place, and then continue on putting everything back together.

Nice job on the DIY good instructions and photos. Personally I would have just removed the lower splash guard that photo gave me the Heebie jeebies looking at it all scrunched up like that.
lol, yeah but it's not sooo bad, becuase it was quite easy too fold, it wasn;t like i forced it.

just a quick question . that front jacking point u used it that safe?

i used to use that but i get paranoid as it seems like ur jacking the radiadtor support which looks very fragile.

Makes life a hell of a lot easier, rather than having to jack one side then go around and jack the other side.

a couple of questions,
My aircon is screwed, it makes a rattling sound almost like someone shaking a tincan with something in it. i dont noe wat it is exactly but i do noe its aircon coz everytym i turn on the ac it gets much worse!
How do i noe if its the belt, compressor, or wat not?

Also i have a spare ac unit from my previous wreck, does that mean i have to be replacing belts if i want to swap them over?

see the condition of the belt, if it;s not cracked, just reuse it.
make sure it's the right compressor, honda used different branded compressors, so make sure they're both the same brath before you put it in.
and btw, seems like its your compressor clutch.

just a question about tensioning the belts, how do you know how much is enough?

lol.

hehe, i've improved on mine as it seems to be sinking abit, its been reenforced & a new mount made closer to centre.

Was told by the welder that the reason it prob is not in the centre is the weight distribution of the car, its heavier on one side

just a question about tensioning the belts, how do you know how much is enough?its really just a by touch thing, just use common sense

I did up a car pretty tight, but when winter came, it was squealing

need to tighten it more
