I m from Brisbane, here there is one Civic Type-R running around Brisbane Metro Area, i was sort of lucky to spot that car in the car park, i m pretty sure that is a JDM car......creamy white color, seat, interior all is factory Type-R stuff.....haha so cool i wish to have one~ just wonder is there any EK9 in Sydney and Melbone?

PS: Here i so far i also saw 2 EJ1 around sunnybank area in Brisbane....EJ1 is 2 door EG civic coupe (Made in US)....10 years car but still looks great~

there are a few type r's in melb, rebuild + one or two personal imports... basically cause they are legal down there.... bit rarer in sydney, and im highly doubting there is one in brisbane :D... you could change over the seats, interior panels, wheels, paint it whatever... and it still wouldnt be a ek9 lol, its too hard to get them registered here :D

There are 2 Civic Type Rs in Sydney

One is an illegal import, the other private import.

And both are rarely driven - they are owned by older guys, and are both absolutely stock standard.

There is another EK9 CTR on its way next month

Vic "Rebuilds" or private imports.

Or "Race only Import"
and cut and paste plate from a local late model EK and get it engineered.... Amazing how they don't know the differences

There was a genuine one for sale ages ago in Brisbane (had QLD plates). But it was silver and had a full Mugen kit. Plates were 00 CTR. I’ve got photos around here somewhere.

I thought EK9 CTRs only came in Championship White

I believe that they came in Championship white, black, yellow and silver. The colours were slightly different to standard Honda colours.

I have only ever seen white ones. Now I think about it, maybe a silver one, but not sure.... :?

I can show u black ones on a NZ car sales site and heres a yellow one http://www.j-garage.com/1310.htm

Silver is the only colour that I’m a bit iffy on. I looked into importing a CTR for a LONG time. CW seems to be the most popular colour In the CTRs.

damn... whats with the big fuss everyone makes over a CTR??? ppl questioning whethere they are real, did it have the seats, the wheels?? etc. Frankly who cares!! its like a $30 000. with 136 kw. there are sooo many better examples of hondas in Australia that are unique and would outperform one in everyway. for example of civics imparticular: Slammedcivic (civic turbo), the yellow one for sale at the moment, BLK CRX. thats only to name a few.

i would prefer these over a CTR anyday.

im only sayin this, because this is like the 5th or 6th thread about "have u seen a real CTR"

Same goes for most turbo hondas - A turbo civic isn't really a Honda is it.

EXCEPTION - I still give props to my man Angus, STU88Y.

Owning a CTR is like owning a classic Monaro or a classic RX3 with all the original hose clamps on the engine. All those other cars you have mentioned are "hot rods". If we were talking about ek4's with full type R gear then that’s a waste of money however a GENUINE EK9 is worth more than all of those cars. Simply because it’s genuine. Just because it’s not as fast around the block as the other cars mentioned doesn’t mean it’s not worth the money

Or does someone here have an invested interest....

There's the truth

And I would have $50 on a STANDARD CTR wooping any turbo honda at any race track (circuit) in Australia

This is exactly why I own an EF9 Civic SiR. It's a genuine SiR and is in 90% stock trim - it would be 100% if I fitted OEM suspension, the 14 inch mags I have and got rid of the cut-down AE82 upper radiator hose I had to cut down to get me back from Vic. It WILL be slower than most project Civics with B16As in them, but it's genuine and is a classic - one of the first VTEC cars. I track down as many genuine parts as I can (rad hose is on its way) and like it kept that way.

I'd love to have a genuine EK9 sitting next to it - not to mention an EF8, DA6 and EG6.

McChook, make it 5000, bring it in cash in a suitcase, and book a flight down here to give it to me in person.

Nah, no red for the EK9. The silver that is available for the EK9 is the same as the silver for say, a VTi-R coupe - vogue silver.

So as soon as u turbo it it looses a honda badge????? and everything else from the honda factory????

Who cares if it is a turbo honda or a na honda the thing is it is still a honda.

To the last posters: As to Honda importing the CTR - it ain't never going to happen according to Honda Australia.
