i know this is a honda site etc etc and im asking about a wrx gearbox but dont flame me straight away. just asking as i have seen a few people on the forums who drive other cars (including wrx).
my friend owns a bug eye my01 and the gearbox blew when giving it a bit in 2nd gear. not an uncommon story im sure amongst wrx owners. anyway if anyone knows a reputable place to source a rebuilt wrx box then any info would be appreciated.
we are in canberra so i guess sydney is where we would be looking as canberra is a little limited. im not sure about the $$ involved in sending a gearbox but i assume it would be a fair bit but we arent discounting anything so any info from anyone is appreciated at this stage.
thanks

ive got a few wrx gearboxes, for the 01, u can run the 04 onward boxes in them aswell, some may need the crown gear inside the dif to be changed for matching ratios, but i dont know them of the top of my head, what the 01 ratio is. If need be shoot me a pm

nah sorry bro i dont..umm as dc2 said..try the rex forums...alot of em have it..only annoying thing is the whining noise it makes lol
dont get a dog box. too many hassles for a street car.
what sort of mods is he running? and whats he planning for the future?
PPG straight cut 1-4 is a good investment.
But since its an 01, you might want to look at changing the gearbox to say a 6 speed (02+ sti.) 01's have longer ratios than the 02s. 6 speed can take a beating, and prove to hold good power.
Summary: PPG 1-4 or a 6speed box (02+ sti)

Take it to MRT, If it were me I would as what chee has mentioned but wouldn't go back to stock as a few hard launches then you'll be back in the same position as your mate is in now. Works out cheaper if u get PPG helical cuts now rather than replace stock then go to a tuffer gearbox.
The more power you make the likely chances of gbox / driveline problems you will have as rexes dont like to wheel spin.

I want the 6spd and the price I am 100% happy with but I just don't want issues and having to drive 300+km 20 times over to get it fixed etc
At the moment trying to do some research in finding a Mitsubishi OEM first gear that fits which will make first longer so that it falls back into MIVEC in 2nd and then get a higher final drive to suit
But so far clueless :(
PS. haha stupid WRX!
