Hey all,
Weve just put a standard jdm bseries motor back into my civic running standard ecu and just bolt ons, but its running rich as and getting low fuel mileage...
does anyone know why this might be?
so far weve replaced:
spark plugs
o2 sensor
thermostat
but still running rich as...
if anyone can point me in the right direction would be great because gold coast sucks for honda mechanics...
so yeah just looking for possible causes and taking suggestions on what to check up...
thanks in advance
kieran.

Which engine was your ECU for?

Could be high pressure fuel pump, bad fuel pressure regulator, bad injectors and more. Any CELs?

nah no cell codes.
ecu and everything are the factory ones for that engine.
thanks

Is the ignition timing advanced? It could be the engine detecting knock and is running it rich to protect the engine from damage.

You have new sensors so maybe they need to be "broken in" so to speak. I would unplug the battery negative over night and let the ECU reset. Then go drive for a few hours. Might just need to be run for a while. With out hooking a scan tool to her I can't see what your voltages are so a good diagnosis is hard. There are tons of reasons the car could be running rich. If running her doesn't help take her to a pro with the scan tools. I be something isn't reading right or is bad and it's causing the ECU to run it rich. By the way do you have the right injectors in there? Peak and hold or Saturated? Right years, resistor box or not?

yeah all that stuff is standard on this motor so its all the right stuff..
just took it for a long drive, not sure if it means anything but my fuel gauge will drop down and a huge ploom of stuff comes out my exhaust when i accelerate next... then i accel and it clears after like 5 seconds and my fuel gauge works its way back up to where it was previously...
i knows it not just a coincidence because it did it everytime (the fuel gauge dropped and a whole heap or stuff came out my exhaust when i next accelerated...
interesting yet frustrating... lol
thanks

check and clean your fuel pump. make sure all connections are good.

G'day m8,
If this were my car, i would first off change the fuel filters. I would then go to burson automotive if you have one close by and buy a bottle of redline fuel system treatment. fill your car with BP Ultimate and use one half bottle of the Redline. run all the petrol out in this sequence. first 1/4 tank run high rpms. shifting @ 4-5grand then drive normally for the next 1/4 not letting the revs past 4. then finally run the car @ high revs again until the guage is down to the reserve mark. if that doesn't work. it's more than likely a clogged fuel line or a bad fuel pump. this is the cheapest way to begin troubleshooting this particular problem.
Hope it helps. Cheerz,

how rich is it runnin?
jdm motors will usually be run on the best fuel around (bloody shit aussie fuel) ur engine could be knocking so the ecu is throwing a ton of fuel in to combat it?
is ur timing all good?
throw it on a dyno and do a WOT run and check your A/F through the rev range.dyno should have all the tools to help u find ur problem
when was the fuel filter changed last?

actually its still running rich as a mofo... could the fuel pump be hooked/wired up wrong?
