A friend of mine (bad start to a thread) was telling me that "an unnamed dealer" had 2 euro R's for sale. Apparently they brought them in themselves.

Does anyone on OH have one of these cars? I'm gonna call tomorrow and find out what the story is. Very interested to know the price.

edited out dealers name

hahaha, they won't be registered or ever will be if they do have some!
Good rumor though!

lol I doubt they can import them, let alone register it. I'm guessing its just the AUDM Euro Sports with a Euro-R bodykit lol

Call them up and ask if it has the 2.0L or 2.4L engine.

2.0L = EuroR
2.4L = Euro Sport.

I would think that's the Euro Sport, not Euro R. But would love to hear what you find out.

You can import what ever you like - the problem is if you wanted to drive it on Australian roads.......
There is always the track!

they may have said Euro R because the euro sport looks essentially identical to the euroR and the dealer may know that's where the sports bodykit is originally from

you need a cams licence to bring in a whole car for rally purposes. if you dont have cams, then the car must be either stripped or in pieces. ie cut up :)

if its only used for rally purposes, there is no way it can ever be registered - legally anyway

Called them and they said a dealer that works there has a Euro with a kit and badges on it.

So i guess the guy was trying to rip my unsuspecting mate off coz he was saying it was a Euro R.

Bummer, it would have been cool.

maybe ur mate misunderstood the dealer......
i dont think they would have told him that it was a real euro r, when it wasnt.
maybe they both misunderstood each other.....

The Euro Sport kit is the same as the EuroR's. The only thing they added was the "EuroR" badge.

EuroDude

lol so they could of just stuck on a cheap euro-r badge and called it a euro-r for a marketting advantage. sounds a bit dodgy to me...

There is only one way to tell it check the interior whether it got the recaro or not and the momo steering, as for engine just check whether it is 2.0l or 2.4l.

you could bring one in for road use if you lived overseas and owned the car for more than 12 months. Otherwise, not gonna happen.

UK's equivalent to the Euro Sport (Type S) has the option of going for Recaros and Momo steering wheel instead of the half alcantara and half leather seats. I'd say, check the tachometer for the redline. 8000rpm is good. :)

LOL, not sure if the dealer will let someone driveit if it was a real EuroR. Just check if redline starts at 7000 or 8000.

Recaros are great while your'e sitting in them but theyr'e a bit of a pain if you have to get in and out of the car a number of times in a day.

The Recaros in the EuroR are more of a comfort-spec one with full adjustments. It's about as "bucket" as the seats on the XR5. Not as hugging as the DC5R's.

Yep, they are the "sportline" model:

well, the euro R recaro sportline is not as comfort as the stock seats but still consider comfort compare to SR model.

anyone confirmed yet? if it's real euroR??

*off topic*
is it against the law to remove our seats and put a recaro in?

aaronng
08-11-2006, 01:56 PM
It's against the law because we have side airbags in the seats. We can't remove any safety equipment. But if you found a sports seat that has airbags that works with the Euro, then you can swap it out.

I bet there is a number of things against the law on your car! :cool:

the new civic type R and i think a specific model of r34 skyline came with bucket seats that have side airbags, so that could be an option in the future if they ever come onto the second hand market

I'd go for the CTR seat if it has a side airbag!

why would a 2L "euro R" be better than a 2.4L euro?

aaronng
08-11-2006, 06:14 PM
why would a 2L "euro R" be better than a 2.4L euro?
2.4L = 140kW @ 6800rpm
2.0L EuroR = 162kW @ 8000rpm, LSD, recaros.

mj3610
08-11-2006, 07:00 PM
euros dont have LSD? lol honda just moved down another notch in my book...
but i'd imagine the 2.4L has more torque than the 2.L right?

EuroDude
08-11-2006, 07:06 PM
Yep generally, lower Litres = higher redline.

If the 2.4L revved as high, it wouldnt be as reliable since the pistons have to travel faster/further (well thats what ive been told)

Although the 2.4L has more torque so its better suited for traffic and everyday driving.

jamchen

sure it does... but Honda's advantage is @ high RPMs...

Euro uses a poor man's lsd. It brakes the spinning wheel using VSA. Not the best way, but being a family sedan and not expected to be driven as a race car, they omitted it probably for cost reasons. Where else can you get a 2.4L 6-spd sedan that handles good, with a reasonably good engine for $33500.

2.4L = 223 Nm @ 4500rpm
2.0L = 206 Nm @ 6000rpm

Honda could have made the 2.4L make peak torque at 6000rpm and given it a redline of 8000rpm as well, but it would have cost more than $33500. Probably much more than a DC5R
