View Full Version : Possible to repair this tyre?
hey guys
i got a tyre, they is a thin line like 5cm long along the sidewall. its totally flat atm. can this be repaired at a tyre shop or its too long?
duno how it got there, probably scrapped a nail or sharp object.
if a tyre has damage on the sidewall then it can't be fixed. any sort of damage. gonna have to chuck it.
ahh gay. now i need a 2nd hand tyre.

Double check if air is actually leaking from that thin line...it could just be surface damage that isnt really deep...jack up the car, take off the wheel, bring it to a service station n pump it up n see where it leaks from.
yea im doing that this arvo. ill get it checked anyways, if its really un-repairable. ill get a 2nd hand tyre i guess.

Take it to a tyre shop and they'll tank test it for nothin. I had a puncture in my side wall and they couldn't fix it. Too dangerous.
Spend the money and get a new tyre man.

It's possible that your tyre was slashed deliberately rather than accidentally scraped by some object.

i say the easyiest way is to pump it up and pour water over the score .. so then if it bubbles up then u can tell its leaking! simple and easy.. lol

I heard that spraying window cleaner on it is better--you can get a really clear look at where it's comming from.
That or spit on it..the bubbles last a little longer with spit incase your attention was turned away for a second.lol-a little grose though
