are there any sealants that won't corrode from petrol? i need to use something that will hold 2 pieces together and possibily come in contact with petrol.

Go to the auto shop and see if the have RTV or Loctite grey. Those are both able to withstand gas. There are some others they should have too that will work.

As far as I know, there's no sealant that will hold for long when in constant contact with petrol. Thats from experience working on carbon fibre fuel tanks on race bikes.

If you never intend to pull the items apart again, then look for the fuel tank repair kits that they sell in Auto 1.

Alternatively, Carbon fibre resin holds up pretty well...how long? never tested. But 1 fuel tank is going for 2 years now...

If it's for a tank you would be better off getting the gasket kit from the dealer. If it's a line get new lines. As for anything that needs sealed on a stock car I can't think of anything that needs a liquid sealer. Now on aftermarket part I can think of a few things, but all get cleaned after a race or a few weeks.

Resins harden enough I don't think fuel would really do much to them over 2-10 years. After that if you have a race bike with the same tank I bet the safety commission has rules that say only like 5-10 years for that part, then get a new one. With the cells we use we only get 5 years at most before the rules make us put new ones in. We don't reuse the lines, if the tank goes, the lines go too.

For the tank where the pump is or the filler neck?

The Blue RTV stuff Slow96GSR mentione works. i used it to seal a pretty big leak and my AFPR --> Fuel Rail adapter.

Did a test before hand... it dissolves FRESH sealant.. obviously. but the fully cured stuff doesn't.

If you just read the tube it will tell you what it can hold up to. Simple as that!!

It will have fumes all the time and when you fill will come in to contact with liquid fuel. I would just use whatever you have there that is like rtv. As I said read the bottle and check or hit the dealer and get what they use.
