Hey guys,

I'm thinking of popping in a custom 2.25'' cat back on my 06 civic VTI 8th gen.

engine size: 1.8L pulling 102kw with 174nm of torque
name of engine: r18a1

What do you guys think about this? will i gain a bit of power gain? will fuel consumption increase?

I also have future plans for it as well, such as powerchip (when that comes out) and mugen extractors ( if they are willing to desgin it)

i would appriecate everyones opinion on the exhuast !!!

Thanx!

i wouldnt bother. instead of getting an exhaust for mods u hope will come out, i would get mods then get an exhaust that suits the mods :)

id leave a brand new car with no intention towards performance the way it is and not waste my money

just my opinion i suppose

I agree with Zilli.. until there are more aftermarket parts out there and generally more know-how about this car, I'd leave the pioneer work to the professionals :) Besides, why void a perfectly good warranty until I find something which I know will work! (unless of course you're a pioneer).

If you were to go further with ur mods for your car (hi-flow cat, bigger intake, headers etc) then i'd go 2.25"

But if you want to get a catback and just leave it at that bcuz u love exhaust sound. Then 2" Is sufficient. Usually if you got 2.25 and left it at that, there would not be enough backpressure so most cars end up losing power in the low end which is shit for city driving. Also you'd get a deep droning sound with the 2.25 in some exhausts.

I personally have a 2" on my 1.7 D17a2 civic Vi because headers arent really readily available and theres not too many mods I can do with the exception of a turbo. So i'll be staying with this until i do something big with my car. I like the sound of it and its given me better economy/responsiveness.

For me, 8th gen is VIP instead of race.

yeah i've already put 18'' x7.5 rims225 tyres.

but i guess it all sounds reasonable to leave the car as is until there are more after market parts for this car.

but thank you for al who posted here!

really helped me made up my mind!!!!

you mentioned that putting exhuast has improved economy? many man kmz did you acheive? 55km extra? is that city driving or highway? i normal do city driving on a daily bases.

Yes mate, its around 50-60km's more than stock, my mods is just the 2" exhaust and replacement k&n filter. Also depends on how you drive, sometimes an exhaust can make ur foot a lil heavier, but if u drive it more smoothly, you'll notice the difference i'm talkin about:)
