Thinking about getting one of these JVC DVD players. Anyone here have one or know if they fit ok in the s2000? Not sure if you'll still be able to close the radio door as the face on these units are pretty thick.

Any advise would be really appreciated!

Thanks

I've had a AVX1

and my mate has the AVX2.

fits in the S2000 perfect. almost like it was designed for it

what you do is put the screen to tilt 3. so that it sits around 30degrees out. and its perfect. your gearknob isn't in the way either (i'm guessing thats what you're worried about)

and avx2 is the go. cause its got inputs/outputs or whatever that makes it easier to join up your dash control

the AVX1 needs you to mount a remote control in your middle air vents above ur stereo for ur dash controls to work

chicken8....
didnt think it would hit the gear knob, was more concerned about closing the radio door without taking the face off.

When you say its easier to hook up the dash control, will i still the DCI?

chicken8

yeah you will. but its direct from the dash controls to the DCI to you inputs/outputs

i forgot what the proper term was, so if anyone can chime in and help?

but with the AVX1 it didnt have the input/output and you needed to purchase a remote which connected to your DCI which was aimed at your head unit from a hidden location (the air vents above your radio door)

and thats a bitch

and i didn't mean it would hit the gearknob. my concern initially was that the gearknob would block the view of the screen. but yeah its fine.

you won't be able to close the radio door with the face plate on. unless the install place you went to is willing to cut away a bit of your din. so that the unit sits 10mm further back

What Chicken means is that the 2 has a remote jack at the back so you can use the hardwired DCI. With the 1 you need to use the IR DCI and hence have to mount the IR transmitter LED above the unit.

I played with a 2 in a guys S the other day and it is an awesome unit. If you want one speak with dbzerk on S2ki.

great info guys, very informative.

so it it true you can close the lid with the AVX2 with tilted screen ???

well when you turn off the car, the screen retracts to the standby position which is not tilted

this still doesn't clear your radio door though. you'll need to make modifications to your din or your radio door to make it close with the face plate still attached to the unit

just installed the avx2 today!!
works awesome!!
The radio door almost closes using the standard brackets.....reckon another 5mm and it would have done the trick.

ended up also getting a clarion mono-block and a earthquake sws-12.....loud as!! but have to start fixing the rattles.

the remote is quite big though. like a tv remote. where do you leave it when you're not using it?

and you should've asked the install shop to cut away 10mm as that'll make your door close

cutting away 5mm will let the door be flush but it won't click and lock into place, as you need to push a tiny bit further than flush for the radio door to click into the closed position

Does this head unit have a TV tuner in it??

From JVC.
The wide 3.5-inch colour TFT monitor in the centre of the face panel shows DVD movies, TV, and more. The broad entertainment options include DVD-Audio, GIGA MP3 MULTI, JPEG, MPEG1/MPEG2 playback and iPod control. Excellent sound is ensured by 5.1-channel surround sound, Headphone Surround, and high-grade parts. Dual Zone is also available.

Nope. It has AV inputs though so you can add a TV tuner.

Jaycar do a digital TV tuner for about $150 that is fine for in car use.

sounds very tempting... any idea how big the tuner box is? where would i put it in the S? theres hardly any room for the cables as it is.

Could those ones be used for 'Dual Zone' ? Or are they the only volume buttons avail?
