Hello everyone,
Just as the title says. I am hoping for input on where is the best spot and what is the best way to mount the HID ballast in the Euro.
Also, I got scratches (mainly hairline) but there is a big deep one that you can feel, on the chrome surrounding the doors. how can i remove the scratches? Does Scratch X or cutting compound get rid of them?
Thanks heaps in advance.

Try scratch x.you can use it on the same scratch a number of times without damaging your paint.Be carefull using cutting compound.

Don't try to fix the chrome. It will only get worse because all it is is chrome painted plastic! I've tried to fix it and all it did was make it more dull. If you have a deep scratch that has turned black because you have gone into the plastic layer, you can use a very fine tooth pick and touch it up with chrome auto spraypaint. Of course, the surrounding chrome is very soft, so you will have to be super accurate in your touch up because you won't be able to use clay to remove any excess.

finding a place to mount the ballasts is friggin hard...
i had the ballast with the built in ignitor, and it was about 1 inch thick, couldn't fit it under the headlights or anything...
ended up mounting it a 'dodgey' way behind the front wheel fenders...

What did you use to secure the ballast? I hope I don't have to make any screw holes in the car.

I think you'll have to screw holes into the Headlight cover, unless the ballast is small enough to fit inside there.

since i'm going to make a big hole in the round cover thingy for the wire harness to go through, and have to replace it later with a spare part from honda; what does everyone think about superglueing the ballast to the outside of the round cover. :)

I don't know easy it is to get a replacement cover as I've rang up Honda Spare Parts before and they have told you have to buy the whole headlight assembly as they don't sell those covers as spare parts.

lol superglue wont hold it, use some 3M double sided tape from the hardware store. Buy the strongest outdoor one you can find. Also use cable ties to secure it, just in case the tape comes loose on a 50c summer day.

Its easy but just fidgity...at the side of the frame you can see holes where you can slip cable ties in. Find a horizontal hold and a vertical hold and mount the ballast using double sided tape. Then hold it together using the zip ties... It can be done...I did it today! 2.5 hrs

on the sides near the fenders there are holes that you can thread the cables through and you can mount the ballast in the wheel ark....just turn the wheel too one side and remove the plastic housing under the fenders and mount it on top of the wheel ark. secure with cable ties and put bak the plastic housing.....run the cables through the holes and into the light housing.....its neat coz you cant see the ballast. this is how i did mine.....

there are much better and easier places to mount it IF you have your stock air intake removed and have an aftermarket CAI.
do you have an aftermarket air intake in? if so i will take pics and show u where i mounted mine.

If the the window trim is just black plastic coated in chrome, wouldn't it be possible to carefully sand the chrome back while it's still on the car? You'd end up with a black window trim for free.
Funnily enough, with the EG and EK civics the black window trim covers a chrome finish underneath.
