Hey all,

New to theese forums and i was after a bit of advice

I have a B16A2 JDM motor which is mounted in a Rover Mini, the problem i have is that its running a Type R IM and the narrow bolt IACV fouls on the bulkhead of the car the problem is that the vehicle has to go through DOT to be certified and i need to gain extra clearence between the IACV and bulkhead

Looking on the net i see that there was a 3 wire iacv off 96-00 D16Y7 / D16Y8 auto which is apparently mounted on the bottom of the TB

at the moment im running a machined out std 60mm non type r TB and im not using the FITV coolant lines to the IACV which has had the body modified to help fit in the confined space

after all that i need to know if it is possible to fit the 3 wire iacv to my current throttle body and get rid of it from the back of the manifold , or do i have to change my throttle body for a D16 auto one

Thanks in advance for any help - your forums look great

Regards,

Ash

You would need to swap t.b.'s. The "tubes" are different in the way that they connect with the inside and outside for air/coolant. There would be a lot of machining and blocking of passages. It would just be easier to swap t.b's for the inspection then swap back after it's done.

i think its going to be a long term issue though because the plug for the iacv has worn the paint away on the firewall allready and the car hasnt been driven yet, the plug also looks like it may have become half broken

it not going to help me now but if i go to aftermarket managment can u remove the iacv all together

im taking the iacv off the manifold today but just need to wait for the auto shop to open so i can get a pair of nosy locking pliers

yes if u use after market systems like autronic motec etc, they can run fine without IACVs.

you can also disable the IACV in the code on the stock ECU.

put a plate over the IACV hole and it will still idle OK.

you can also use the iacv of eg civic si zc motor(dy16??) it has the same bolt up pattern as the type r IM. try that ont it might be smaller that the type r 's
or you could get the trusty grinder and file out to make more clearance for that bolt to clear. have fun

trust me the die grinder has allready had a work out on the iacv and it cant go any more - the bolt head even got taken down to about 1.5mm

what i have done today is to remove the IACV from the back of the manifold and remove the FITV from the bottom of the TB, I then made a trial adaptor plate from 19mm timber to mount the Type R IACV to the bottom of the TB and disposed of the FITV and mounted it all up to the motor

I know a piece of timber is not the best modification but now i know it works i will get a alloy billet plate machined up instead

PRO ECU / ECU-MAN im interestred in disabling the IACV as you said as that would be soo much easier - The info off the ECU is

im not what sure what ecu this one is but i hope u can id it for me

Thanks for everyones ideas on this , i needed to get this fixed as it effects the overall positioning of the engine which means i cant fully weld up the tacked exhaust i have fabricated

are there any disadvantages to disabling IACV in the factory ecu , can it be re enabled later stage

ECU-MAN

yes you can simply and quickly enable it

if you can it would be best to run one

IACV are over rated but do come in handy at times, we are not running 1 on our ITBs, just need to bump up your idle a little to compensate when you turn your head lights on. If ECU-MAN does your ECU you can tune it later aswell:)

PM Sent.

Your ECU is a P30 (small square case, JDM) OBD1
