Just a quick question; is this tail light swap plug and play or does it need supplementary conversions to other parts?

Plug & play, but the ek9 has extra bulbs so you will need to wire those in also to make it work properly otherwise your ek9 taillights will work like ek1, i.e no bottom lights!

BTW... i have a set if your interested.

Jadis, its exactly the same like limbo said however you need to wire the bottom bit. if you want to save money, there is a simple 10 MIN DIY which will make your normal EK1 taillight looking like the EK9.

here the link, hope it helps

Thanks EK4R but i'm actually wanting to confirm that a pair of EK9 tail lights will slot in my EK1 w/o problems. It's not the bottom lights i'm after but rather the elimination of the yellow strip.

oh. then the one Limbo sales isnt the one your after i believe. his one has the orange light. your looking for 99-00 rear taillights. which dont have the rear orange but white lights. you dont need a ek9 taillight to eliminate the orange bits......the old ek9 taillight came with orange mate.

ek1 even have them. just make sure its a 99-00 taillight.

Thanks again EK4R for the update. So I should now go looking for a 99-00 set. I suppose they are plug and play?

any 99-00 hatch rear light will plug and play. you don't need ek9 ones, all the same basically. only difference is the wiring for bulbs, and that doesn't come with the lights obviously. i'm sure u can find a used set for $100+
