Just in the market for some new semis.
Have narrowed it down to a choice out of the Toyo R888's, Yokohama A048's and the Bridgestone RE55's.
Was hoping to get some feedback from anyone who's experienced these tyres and which one would be the grippiest of them all for the track, wear out the quickest, and an order of which costs the most to which costs the least.
Thanks.

Hi mate,
check out this thread for some semi slick discussion:
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53767
the toyo would be the cheaper of the three, but I would go the yokohamas or bridgestones. They are different compounds. Do a search also you'll probably find some other threads.
I had the predecessor to the a048s. I've got ao32rs in the garage. Very sticky...loved them...do tend to wear quickly...but can't complain because the grip is good...

Thanks Spunkymonkey.
Yeah, I have checked out that thread but it doesn't have what I'm looking for and I felt bad if I had interrupted his thread by asking my own question.
I have done a search for the RE55's but couldnt come up with much on it.
So the Toyo's are different compounds to the yoko's and b/stones?
Anyone ever compared the a048's to the re55's? Stickinesswise and costwise?!
Thanks

we'll wait for others to post. If your in sydney I recommend calling Gordon Level tyres in Emu Plains/Penrith area to check for pricing. They supply a lot of the yokis/bridgestones for motorsport racing clubs/etc - and occasionally have good deals on used semi-slicks.

I use RE55S for track days.
SR2 compound. Does take a while for the rear to heat up if you dont have alot of weight in the rear of the car. But 3 track days so far and still over 50-60 tread left.

bridgestone is used by f1 and indy...
yokohama tyres are popular in japan
toyo is not too bad
out of the 3 bridgeston have the hardest sidewalls
so if you have the money get the re55s if not get the a048.. and if u want cheaper ones get the r888
i have the re540s which is previous to re55s and they are rock hard sidewalls very very good for track :D i know a few guys using the re55 and no complaints from them.

my A048's feel unreal ! although are a little noisy... You should also consider Micky Thompsons depending on use.. VERY good drag tyre and street legal.... (somehow).
I will recommend Edward Maxhondapower for Advans... did mine for $225 each vs $450 each from tyretech brisbane or $350 each for Toyo R888 (which is an inferior tyre compared to ao48s)... dam good if you ask me.
The a048s seem very sticky however not sure on the life yet as i only just started running them.
I'm planning to get the RE55s early next year, always had good experience with the B/stone R comp tyres from the RE610s>520s>540s days. Never tried the 55s as they were avail when I last competed in my historic bmw.
With the Advans they go off much quicker than the B/stones after only 10-20 heat cycles ie you really do notice the drop off in performance ie even if they are still relatively new and not exposed to ozone and uv.

The 888s are a better drag tyre, Re's I find is best in out right performance the only problem with them is you cant do diaginal rotation to extend the life of the tyre. Btw ur not going to find a good semi that is quite

i got toyo r888, they hold up very well, however i only use them on 1/4 mile racing..................
its the nly semi i have used so far, 4 meetings about 6-7 runs per meetig with decent burn out at the start, they hold up on 6-7k launch with my dc2r with 135kwatw
