i got a 96 model EJ8 with like 180k kms on the clock. just wondering when would be a good time to change my radiator hoses? when a problem comes up or at a 200k service? should there be any signs i should be looking out for that tells me i need to change them? thx in advance

first sign of age or leakage

signs of age include, cracks on the rubber.. feeling hard stuff when u squeeze it.
the hose should be pliable and not show cracks when squeezed

i think some people recommend them to be changed every 5 years

yeah as marvo said i wouldnt bother replacing them until there is signs of leakage or excessive swelling.

it's not something people generally replace as a preventitive sorta thing

I changed mine at 200,000km as a preventative measure.

they still worked fine and had no cracks, but they felt a bit soft and dodgy in some areas.

definitely the 2 main hoses (upper and lower)
i'm not too sure bout the ATF ones though, any idea anyone?

the two main hoses are the top radiator and the bottom radiator hose, and the other two are the oil cooler hoses for the gear box if its auto, but u dont need to change them two little ones unless u see it leak or even if the hoses are hard and not soft anymnore, the first two signs id look out for is leakage and usually when the hose is worn out it starts to go fat like its pregnant it just doubles its size

you dont need to buy oem honda hoses its juast as good as aftermarket ones. you can get them at any autospares i guess. tell them and they mostliekly order them for you.
