hey guys,
sorry to post such a question, but someone i know insists that his civic coupe with D16 will beat my DA9 B18A. personally, i dont kno wat will win so i decided to seek opinions from members of ozhonda. with such cars that perform similarly, i realise that it comes down to the driver's ability and launch. the B18A has a little bit more torque obviously becos of the slightly larger displacement. however, the B18A has only approximately 3kw more. also the kerb weight of the civic is 100kg less than the DA9.
the D16 is a SOHC vtec where as the B18A is a DOHC non-vtec. would this factor be significant in the outcome? would the higher red-line mean anything? reason why i havent taken it to the track yet is that we have a $350 wager. he's a lot more confident than i am, lol.
finally, the civic coupe is bone stock. i have a few minor mods on the DA9; 2.25" hi-flo cat w/ twin loop muffler (and yes, i do realise the exhaust system is only as strong as its weakest link). car runs 98 octane fuel with ignition timing set at 19 degrees (3 above stock. once again, there is debate whether this actually does anything).
anyways, i think that about covers it. opinions are appreciated, but none that are along the lines of "both of them are sh!t and slow" yes, they arent the fastest things ever made and i never said they were, but its just something i would like to know
