hi guys,

i just installed my new hid kit - for those of you who have installed an hid kit, you know you are meant to remove that round cover bit for the low beam to replace the bulb. Where do you mount the ballast? do you put back the round cover bit? im thinking its bad if the ballast or wiring gets wet due to rain or car wash? coz the black / red wire metal bit is seen, the rubber covering helps though.

what you can do is..
drill a hole on that round cover, and your hid bulb usually has a rubber seal which could fit into that hole and prevent dust, water, etc from coming in. The drawback is of course, when you put your stock bulbs on the hole will be there. You can then seal it back.

drill the hole and as well use the tape to rape the wires up for safety reason.
You can mount your ballast everywhere. For Euro, water and wain is pretty hard to get into the engine bay but do the above for safety reason

Hi I'm gonna install my HID kit too. If it is not too much trouble, could we get some photos of where the ballasts are mounted in your cars?

By the way, my projector lamp lens just CRACKED! The glass lens itself!! Gonna be fixed under warrantee. Thank goodness I haven't drilled any holes in the round covers. those headlights are like ~$650

The guy at the dealership said never seen that happen before. Can't believe Honda Aust has no headlights in stock and have to be ordered from Japan. Will take 10days.

Don't know why it happened. Could be the extended watts MTEC HID-look halogens bulbs I had. But only one side cracked. Hmm.. strange...

my ballasts were too thick to fit under the headlights....:(

I drilled the hole on the cover..and attached the cover back to the round slot... there was a gap between the round cover and a metal frame.....i mounted the ballast between the cover and frame....seems to be a good fit. will take a pic and post it tonite.....also will post pics of the car / rims coz i feels its a lil too high....was thinking lowering a bit....ill wait for ur suggestions later.....

Looks good.

I didn't quite fully understand how you described the mounting. To me it looks like you just stuck it to the back of the round cover? Also, did you use a relay harness? Or just Ballast straight to the existing + / - terminals that are used to power the original halogen bulb?

How did you secure the ballast? I see no screws or cable tie etc.

clowdz...ballast came with 2 plug connectors..i just followed the manual... im not too sure what a relay harness is.

there are no screws or cable ties... i just mounted it there and seemed to be a perfect fit behind the round cover... however i might look at putting a cable tie if needed.

Umm.. relay harness is the cable that goes from the ballast directly to your battery. Did you have to connect any cables directly to your battery? Also, with the anode of the HID Bulb, is yours facing up or down?

Has it been lowered? If it hasn't looks pretty stock to me, if that's the look you were after :)

i never hooked my HID's with a relay...

just straight to the pos and neg terminals of the stock bulb wires...

do these kits supply higher amperage fuses? because they HIDs draw a crap load of current to ignite the xenon for a split second. if anyone has fuse problems after installing. try doubling the Amp rating.

clowds - nope....no relay harness - plugged it into the +/- plugs. ; well i did think it was slightly high...but thats arite i guess if its stock.

I have info about the rear caps of the Euro's projector.

Courtney and Patterson sells them separately for $22 each.

Also, is there a problem with leaving them OFF?

I think a good place to put the ballast is to double sided tape them to the side of the black box that is the projector headlights (the thing the caps screws on to).

Another question which I hope that someone with the workshop cd has can help me.

Is it normal that there is some play in the headlight assembly? when i shake the part where the bulb goes into (ie. the rear of the projector), it can move a little bit (about 1mm). You can see this movement from the front of the headlight too, all the lights move, ie. the projector, the turn signal and high beam.

this doesn't happen with the other side (which was recently replaced because of cracked projector lens).

is there a way to tighten up the whole light assembly? i got a feeling it will bounce up and down on rough road.

thanks heaps.

don't worry about water, i can put both bulb and ballasts into water and they work fine
just don't make the bulb working in water too long otherwise the high voltage will make the metal wire beside xenon capsule ionized

Just Received Some spare screw covers from a Honda Dealer in Perth, they charged me $40.30 for the pair without rubber gasket.
For those interested in the part number: HO-33127SEFG01

I regret buying mine on the cheap from one of the traders here.

If I had known better - I would fork out money for the MuSecret or look for Philips kits on ebay

I bought Phillips ones and there awesome, double sided taped the passenger side ballast to the the side of the headlight housing and on the drivers side manage to mount it in the supplied bracket from the same screw that mounts the filling tube for the wiper washers.

I have noticed the same thing after installing my HID's

Only the drivers side headlight has the issue where the entire projector moves only sligtly, so when driving on a bumpy road, you can see the light move only slightly.

I need a fix aswell - Sounds like it will be a difficult one..

Maybe a warranty thing?
