Another small problem maybe....

My battery light in the instrument cluster won't go out while while car is running. I've had the alternator checked, and even the battery...everything is charging fine....I've gone over the whole car (well, what I can think of) and can't find a cause.

What would be causing it? Or would it just be a small glitch, and easy solved by removing the bulb behind it?:(

pull the plug off the alternator & connect the blue/white wire to ground.

turn the ign on & see if the light is on,

now pull the ground connection off the bl/wht wire & see if the light goes out.

If this test fails, check the bl/wh wire for short to ground.

If the test passes, take the alternator back & tell em to test the volt reg.

Warning lights exist for a reason, best not to ignore them.

Thanks buddy....I'll give that a go when I get home from work tomorrow night...

what is the voltage when the car is runing.

the light means more than likely voltage regulator or brushes are gone in the altenator.

Voltage when the car is running = 14.6V...

The alternator was replaced last year...brand new one.

Ok.....when I did the little test that was pointed out by CRXer...the light went out...

Does that mean the alternator is stuffed...even though it is charging properly?

Could this possibly be a bad ground from the alternator??

Did you check for ECU codes? Short the ECU pins under the passengers dash and see if the engine light on the cluster flashes.

Here's a guide http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8218

I haven't done a ECU troubleshoot.... Didn't know about it...Thanks EuroDude. I will keep you updated....

Hopefully this will also help me stop melting the inline fuse for my amps.....

If the amps' fuse is the only fuse blowing, then there could be a short or bad earth within your sound system - which could be causing the Battery light error. If you remove the amps inline fuse, does the battery light still light up?

Make sure the amps power+earth wires arent frayed and touching, and ensure the earth contacts to the chassis are tight and free from oxidization and grease/dirt, and make sure the earth+power cables are a suitable gauge. Also ensure you are using the correct fuse rating. You might want to use a separate fuse and power cable for each amp.

Yeah, it's just the inline fuse that is blowing...I've blown 2 in the last week. Rewired the whole system, just to make sure that wasn't the problem (first thing I did)....

Maybe the sound system is simply sucking too much power.

Drive around with your amps off and see how that goes.

You may need a bigger battery, use caps, and/or upgrade your alternator

How many wires on the alternator plug,3 or 4?

Is this a constant problem,ie constant light?

Leave the amp fuses out & see if the prob persists.

Could be quite simply time to upgrade the alternator, driving around at night(lights on) ,especially hot nights lately, music throbbin, with an engine bay full of turbo gear & associated turbo elec gizmos(sounds like u got it all) ,the combo of excessive heat in the alternator & large loads reduces alternator performance drastically.A high performance battery will also take a lot of the duty cycle out of the alternator,it should only be chargin like 50% of the time, max.

If its a 4 wire plug, theres one more wire test u should perform(cant remember the wire colours, tell me what colours are left besides white/blue & black/yellow i'll remember, its white/?) before lookin at alternator.

If its a 3 wire or this last wire test fails,i dont know who tested your alt originally, but either take it back or go to someone with the right equipment, much easier & faster to diagnose an alternator with the proper equipment & proper load testing.Shouldnt cost too much for the test.

I have the 3 wire plug....I don't drive around at night...or with the stereo pumping....

At the moment I am driving around just listening to rear speakers due to not having an inline fuse in place next to the battery, and the battery light is still on. It has been on for about 1 week now.....

It's on whether I am driving during the day...at night...high revs...low revs..

It's driving me crazy....

CRXer...yes..the engine bay is pretty crowded ;)

try an6ther battery,

remove your battery from the car and try another battery from a different car that fits and is working ok.

other than that could still be the voltage reg

I guess I could invest in a new battery..the one that is in the car is about 3 years old....Even though it still reads 12.65V

Could this be affecting it?

ECU-MAN

yes it can

try before you buy

see if you can get your hands on a good battery 1st as a test

Did the ECU troubleshoot test....Came up with no problems....

Looks like it is time for a new battery then :(

youve got a bad earth or short somewhere...if ur battery is running 14.6v alts fine and dont remove the bulb dats wat its there for to show u theres a problem

Well it's definitely not the stereo...I've cancelled that out for sure...uninstalled all of it today :D

Not the DVD player or screen either... uninstalled them last week...

I'm getting to the point of just pulling the whole car apart and selling it all
