Looking into 19 inch rims I can see they look like a good size however the rims are so heavy compared to the original lightweight enkies ,Anyone think the added stress of the wheels would kill the gearbox ,clutch etc and I'm guessing slow the car down 0-100 anyone had any experiances.

cheers

IMO 18" is max for DC5

if you buy 19" Forged rims it wont be so heavy but big $$$$

yeah slow ur acceleration down from greater rotation mass
2 reduce acceleration from increased vechicle mass
3 changes gearing for the worse if the circumferance of the tire is larger which will also reduce acceleration.
4 Increase unsprung weight (harder for the suspension to hold the wheel to the road = slightly less traction on bumpy roads),
5 Changes steering feel making it slightly harder (like turning the wheel angle when ur holding a spinning bike wheel by the axel), makes the steering pump work harder.

of course, the amounts wont be much if the wheel is slightly heavier, but if ur adding 5kg per corner + changing tire circumferance, it will make a pretty noticiable differance, mostlty in acceleration.

however ur clutch and gearbox will be fine. Ask yourself - are you a looks man, or a performance man?

hey dude, i had 18s on my EG..

if your looking for speed dont get 19's if your going for looks and dont plan to race go for em..

i changed mine as muzz said because slowed my car down alot plus turning was harder.

IT can ****up your CV joint, which is what happened to my left one!

id say 19's would look good, but if looks is what ya after!

seeing as you dont have a type R, just get ur 19's

ur car isnt that fast to begin with, so i wouldnt concentrate on mods, just go for looks. ur not gonna 'eat' much as it is anywayz. Tho imo, 18's are perfect size for dc5 in terms of Looks.

once you jump in a type R then you'll say itll fly even harder.

on a serious note, you like performance so go for 17'z. DC5R came in 16'z so im assuming ur car does as well in sotck form. go one inch up and itll all be good.

unless there are serious mods, your teg won't even make that much power. Trust me. 118kw at the fly i believe, an aussie spec b16a makes the same power. So i wouldnt really worry about trying to beat 200sx's, porbably just looking good

U got a valid point there, i undestand your view:thumbsup: , but in my opionion, not having much power is all the more reason to use lighter rims!

Performance isnt all about racing 200sx's off at the lights, and beating them:thumbsup:. i upgraded (or should i say downgraded lol) from stock 15" rims to 17x7s and the diference in acceleration is quite noticible. My ek has 88kw at the flywheel:( (no mods cus im savin for a swap:D ), and i cant beat nissans in a drag race. dosnt mean i dont care about its performance and handling! Thats my view, but i totaly understand were your comin from too;)

go throw about 300 lbs of sand bags in the trunk of the car and drive around for a while... will make about the same difference in acceleration

17" is a good idea for DC5R. 19" for EURO.

HAHAHAHAHA.....118kw, your kidding buddy.

My mates Stock Type S ran 115kw atw at this year's FB. And TGZs JDM187 DC5R ran 116kw atw with catback (i think) with 18inch RS GT rims.

But on the street it's a different story.

If you wanna put 19inch rims...then put them on cause they do fit. It's just that you will lose some sort of power.

don't be discouraged by these comments about your car only has 118kw...it's more than just that.

I have a 2002 Auto DC5 luxury and a 2005 TypeS...and yes the difference is huge, but the luxury is by no means slow.
If yours is a manual, then there's plenty of options for you, eg Hondata for one. But as for my auto, i use it as a daily driver since i commute to the city alot, and my TypeS for weekends manily.

and in answering your questions about 19" wheels on the dc5, they will fit, but i wouldn't go any larger than 18s. for all the above mentioned reasons.
the extra weight, the ride quality etc.

also Only the TypeR wheels are Enkei, the luxury and base model DC5 Integra wheels are not made by Enkei. They do not have the Enkei logo like the TypeR wheels do on the inside.

i had 19s on my del sol....had it for all show b4...but they were too heavy for acceleration and braking.....so decided to drop to 17s...still all show n stuff...but i can acelerate and brake so much easier now....i sugest only go 2 inches bigger from stock at most.....just remember that u do want to beable to stop ur car too:D

Do what you want man, seriously...
Bling or performance, the DC5 is more than capable of accomplishing both successfully.
