hey, i've just replaced my stock speakers with a pair of 6x9 260 watt rear pioneer speakers. But i have noticed that the stock speakers has much more bass and even the front speakers sound better than the new rear ones. any one have any idea why? i have tried switching the wires around to check if i have mixed up the negative and positive around, hey ever i connect it, it sounds the same.

stock head unit? aftermarket head unit?

with a aftermarket head unit shud sound a bit better
check settings if u got after market head unit, bass/treble settings

hmmm, yeah its got a sony hu, there use to be too much bass in the speakers, now it has just lost most of the bass, and the equalizer mode is still the same.

its coz the HU got 50x4 watts = 18rms
the original speakers are about 10-15rms
whereas the 6x9 are around 30-50rms or so (maybe more)
so the power of the HU wont be sufficient

Yeh the stock speakers are designed to run off low Watts and provide boofy bass. But they distort very easily when you turn up the volume loud.

Most aftermarket 6x9's need an Amp to provide decent bass, so they can reach a higher volume without distorting.

So yeh, get an Amp :)

(please, not a sony :p mine overheated really badly and distorted. get a Kicker, Audison, or something of similar quality)

dude. i am running aftermaket pionneeer 6x9 and clarion 6.5" off my stock headunit and they are heaps more bassy and much more crisp.

perhaps you should also change the fronts as well and see how that sounds.

are u using the same line as stock speakers? id say replace them if you are and see if that helps.

if you are using new ones, use the old ones see if the old wires are better! (prolly not)

when it comes to average speakers, runing new wires isn't really nessecary.

when your running 260 watt 6x9 speakers, i wouldnt call that average

if you running you 6x9 of the rear top cover, there might be to much exposure which makes the bass of the 6x9 shi77y

ps u running stock head deck? if you are they are 40 watt ur new speakers has to much power for them

The speakers have too much power for the headunit?

I don't see how that's possible since speakers don't actually produce power...

260w not average? Well it's probably 260w MAX rating not RMS.

Were the speakers screwed down tight before you started using them or did you test it out before installing it?

underpowering a speaker can make i sound shit.

Overpowering a speaker can make it sound shit.

his refering to bass isnt he?

40w max on stock unit which he using 6x9 which is designed to replace subs which try to have so called good enough bass.

head unit wouldnt have enough wattage to produce sufficient or good bass for the 6x9's

OR if his not using stock head unit his rear may me exposed which makes the 6x9 sound shi7

you can get 400w 6x9's and they are still shit compated to 200w high quality 6x9's

you can get a 1000w pioneer sub, which is very average, and put it up against a 1000w lets say, crossfire, boston sub, and the these subs will shit all over it.

and face it, pioneer ain't that great.
the yellow cones are decent. but anything else is average to me.

Also, are these in an enclosure, or just sitting in holes on a parcel shelf? Are there any gaps around where they're mounted, etc?

Improper installation can be the downfall of a sound setup.

What model are the Pioneer 6x9's? The cheaper pioneer stuff isnt that good.

If you dont wanna get an Amp, sell the Pioneers and have a look at the Boston Acoustics S Series 6x9's. These are designed to run off stock head units and should sound considerably better than the Pioneers.

Boston Acoustics S95

And ensure you seal up any gaps around the speakers. You want it to be as air tight as possible.
Sound deadener under the parcel tray may also help.

someone correct me here but could it also due to his sensitivity of the 6x9 he has chosen? if it is lower then it will take more power to get volume out of his..thus affecting bass?

yellow cones would prolly cost ya about about 3-4 from memory where you can get the lower end models for 90 bucks?

correct me, but dont think sum1 would spend 3-4 on 6x9, while they can get a sub for about 300 in the box

i aint talking about ebay prices

about brands. thats true.. what you pay for is what ya get..

People do spend that much on on 6x9's, for some they dont need a sub or want a sub. You can get a sub for 300 as well as a box but then you'll need and amp to power it, then you need some wiring...

some 6x9's do produce exceptional bass and quality, well not bad for what it is.
but personally i would never go for 6x9's if i wanted some nice clarity and bass. i'd just get a small sub.
the only time i would recommend 6x9's is just drop in replacements.
that's it.

exactly wat destrukshn said...

i aint saying people dont buy expensive 6x9, thats why they in the market still but im saying whats the point when you can get a sub for a price which will produce better bass
