Is it possible to buy an 3rd party add on trip computer device for the earlier Euro models? Even my wife's basic Exec '02 Magna has a trip computer with all sorts of useful stats (fav. is immediate fuel consumption, gives a good indication of how to save petrol and really adds up.)

I assume all sorts of sensors require to be installed but in Honda's wisdom they may already have several there but not fully functional.

How does the MY06 Euro determine the Fuel Efficiency anyway?
Via the fuel pump? Or does it have sensors in the fuel injectors?

I think its just programed into the chip or something.... based on your speed and rpm

The trip computer calculates fuel economy by measuring fuel used against distance travelled.

The ECU knows how much fuel is being injected into the engine, and it knows the distance travelled. The formula it uses is 100/(KM/Litres).

Example: Lets say we used 15L of fuel and travelled 200km. Then we would have:
100/(200/15) = 100/13.3333 = 7.5l/100km.
