Hi all,
For awhile now I have noticed some strange sounds when I am accelerating in my DC5R. A whipping sound coming from the front end of the car, the sound becomes more noticable when pinning down the throttle or powering out of a curve. Usually happens between 1st thru to 3rd around the 4000rpm mark. Intially I thought it was my tyres losing traction as they were bald, but thats the case anymore as I replaced then earlier this week.
I really dont know what it is?
As anyone on this forum encountered this problem before?
Whipping sound?
Never heard of that prob before.
Any mods to your engine?
intake, exhuast etc?

There is no mods done to my car.
The sound is hard to describe. It more like induction sound coming from the front end.

Cooling fans kicking in (due to summer weather)?
Something stuck in the air filter?
Power Steering problem?
Transmission fluid low?

Out of those you mentioned it could only be the tranmission fluid.
I just had a service.

perhaps something to do with the LSD?
considering you're getting it when going hard on throttle and powering out of corners, these are situations where your LSD would be working

If its a faint high pitched whizz sound at mid-high revs, then thats normal for the K series. I hear the same thin in my euro. You need to turn off the audio to hear it though..

sounds like a creaky clutch pedal that just needs re-greasing :p happened to my euro twice now, and also my eg civic.

Thanks for everyone's input.
Till now I still don't know what it is.
However I do know it has something to do with the load I am putting on the car. I was driving earlier today with the A/C on, while doing that the strange sound is appearing at lower rpm levels.
It's hard to say if there is any power low cause I am hesist to push the vehicle hard just in case it ruins something else or makes the problem worse.
From what I have catered by research on forum is could be the heatshield, LSD or blown value.
I need to get this check out, I usually go to Hanny's for my services but can someone reccommend another person who is knowledgeable in Honda in the Sydney area?
thanks

have you popped the bonnet and stick your head underneath it to hear the sound at idle, then pull on the TB to bring the revs up and see if it makes the noise (while the car is stationary)??

Only happens when the vehicle is moving.
