Hi all,
I have been sus on my gearbox/clutch for a while now, recently I discovered i'd run my clutch fluid to empty, jus not sumting i'm used to checking, anyway, needless to say this was causing issues until I refilled it, now it seems to be ok.
I have been noticing for a while that changing to 2nd gear at high revs occassionally causes me issues, sometimes grinding into second at high revs (not a good look)
Saturday night, I did just this, ground 2nd gear, ever since im finding it hard to change into most gears but in particular second gear (at any revs)
Also, when taking off from a stop, the clutch kind of grabs and shudders the car a bit, once rolling this seems to go away, just while i'm 'riding' the clutch it happens.
Is this possibly synchros or am I looking at a munted gearbox? Or even ongoing clutch problem?

Change your tranny fluid before you do anything else.
Check your clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder for leaks and bleed the clutch once fixed.
Then if its still grinding/clutch is still shuddering you may need to do the following:
* get your synchro's checked
* machine the flywheel
* get a new clutch

Sounds like the Synchros to me. But check the easiest stuff first, clutch fluid etc..
Take it to a gearbox mech and inspect the clutch. If its in good condition then you may need to recondition the tranny (new synchros).
Could even be the clutch bearings. Its hard to determine the exact cause(s) unless you get a gearbox mech to drive it.

oh and also,
As im decompressing the clutch from stopped, u can hear a screechy kinda noise, not loud, but kinda sounds like tyres on polished concrete noise, this is before it actually grips and starts moving

Had the same problem to my civic. Realised the master cylinder was gone. All the clutch fluid was leaking behind the firewall inside the car. Get down and inspect the inside cabin. See if there are leakages behind the firewall. Most likely its the master cylinder.

I will have a look, as of today I have actually been noticing a weird smell, smells like of 'sweet' almost inside the cabin, may be the fluid?

That sounds like your Thrust bearing. :thumbsup:
So it only happens when you push the clutch in?

I think its time to replace the clutch.

If the fluid is leaking behind the firewall, i suggest you to clean it out asap as the fluid will do some damage to paint work.

When you start to lose fluid, it means you prob most likely need a new clutch. I know this as a fact, as in my Type R, when the clutch was about to go, the clutch fluid was also going away. When you replace the clutch though, also rebuild the cylinder with stainless steel sleeves.

Just an update...
Had a mech have a quick look, my master cylinder is definately leaking into the cab near my peddles, so this needs replacing.. part is only around $75 from Honda directly so that's not too bad.
The mech had a drive of my car an of course noticed the shudder I get when launching, he said it's time to replace the clutch for this issue, that is $500 - $600 or there-abouts so that shall be fun (sarcasm noted)
