Hey Guys,
Just need some help to verify the type of engine in my civic.

I have been on a few sites and read;
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8123&highlight=Model+civic
and
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2

But I am so n00b it hurts :p

These are the details i picked up.
Its a 96 civic coupe
Model: EJ8
With a code on the engine that starts with D1GY8-#######

If its a VTI am i right in thinking that last number needs to have D1GY8-VTi-#######?

Thanks for any help guys :)

n00bfully confused,
Bevan

Its D16Y8, and no it wont have VTI in the complete engine code.
Your Rego paper will have the full engine code.

D = D Series
16 = 1.6L Displacement
Y8 = Variant

Specs For the JDM D16Y8 (AUDM should be the same, or at least similar):

Displacement (cc): 1590
Power (bhp@rpm): 127 @ 6,600 rpm
Torque (ft/lbs@rpm): 107 @ 5,500 rpm
Compression Ratio: 9.6:1

Cam Design: SOHC
Valve Train: VTEC
