Hey there fellow OH members, just needing some help bout buying an s2k. I'm looking at buying myself a 2nd hand s2k, but i've heard some bad things about the 99 model s2k's. So i'm looking at the '00 model. Is this any better? Just wanting some advice cuz everyone i ask from honda says they dont know nuttin. Which one would be best for my budget of $40k, the less i spend the better it is so i can do some mild mods.

Thanks boys and girls

There is no such thing as a MY99. Those sold from August 99 to August 00 are all considered MY00 and have all the same specs and issues.

I'd buy the best example you can find and if you can get an 01 in your budget then spring for that. Any of the mods you could afford for the change out of $40K won't gain you much.

40k? You can get an 01/02 for that money.

Or, buy one already modded. There is a turbo one for sale that fits in your budget (although the insurance may not). I know the car prior to modification and only hear good things about the guy who modified it.

Yea i heard to mod a s2k its pretty exxy, thats why i've only set aside 40k as my s2k budget. Dont wanna be dippin into my mod funds :D

i think 40k will get you a 02

i got my sept 02 (i like to say its a 03) for close to 40k with 40,000km on it at the time

i bought from a dealer so you'll only be able to get cheaper than what i paid

although not that many 02+ come up for sale

that turbocharged s2k use to be my previous car. the new owner has taken good care of it, he has hardly driven it at all from the looks of it. definately a great buy.

Hey there!

Firstly what a great choice! Honda S2000!

Here is a small list of differences that I know of :

MY01- cd changer relocated from boot to secret compartment and standard wind deflector + indy yellow introduced

02/03- as above+glass rear window+door tweeters+and I even heard ecu has leaner air fuel ratio or is this only for usa?+ clutch buzzing noise fixed+chrome rings on tail lights+nurburgring blue introduced (?)

for 40k i think ur most likely to end up with 00/01- if you can find an 02 with that price be sure to check it out :) cos when I was looking for one early this year I wanted the 02 but damn hard to find and when I do find them they are around 46k+

Good luck my friend

good summary zerospel.
MY01 also got the 8 CD changer as opposed to the 6 in previous models :)

Sorry for OT, but what do you do with the A/C service valve thingy with that FMIC sitting in the front bar:confused:

My FMIC is ahead of the dryer and access point. I modded the bracket a bit so it was closer to the condensor but otherwise it is stock.
