drain your old petrol.
pour premium.

or maybe add 2-3 bottles of octane booster
lol.

hypo

do you think that y she wont start?

destrukshn

might be.

It should start and run, but the engine may knock and performance will suffer. The ECU has knock sensors and is designed to account for the lower octane.

But you should only use low octane fuel in an emergency, for instance if Premium isnt available and you are stuck in a desert.

Dunno why it wont start, maybe the fuel was watered down or the petrol station tank was very low and water got sucked into your fuel tank. In this case, I would drain the fuel and put Premium in. Or add octane booster like Destruk said.

Drain out as much petrol as you can. How did you get home from the petrol station if the car didn't start?

hypo
06-12-2006, 06:50 PM
lol i had red light on petrol 4 a while crusing and could not find the dam thing to pop open the gas lid and the found it and poured normal unleaded petrol and then it would not start so i had a look around and then on the gas lid premium unleaded only

EuroDude

Only 12L? Fill the rest up with 98RON and it'll be fine. Maybe add a bottle of Octane booster just in case.

But the car doesnt start, so drain all the dodgy fuel. You can buy cheap fuel sython pumps to pump the fuel out. The petrol station may sell them, or get one from an auto shop.

there is a bolt on the fuel tank.
lol.

So is your car at the petrol station now?
Fill up with 98 octane.
Look at the other cars at the station. If they are filling up regular and are able to drive off, then it shouldn't be a contamination problem.

When you filled up, was there a petrol tanker refilling the petrol station?

hypo

ok the is about 12 to 13L of unleaded petrol and i had put about 80ml of octane booster how long does it take to kick in?

EuroDude
06-12-2006, 08:50 PM
There is still fuel in the fuel lines so you will need to turn the ignition for a little while (beware that the battery can go flat if you crank too much), plus it would help to shake the car side to side so the octane will mix in with the fuel properly.
You could also try putting an extra 12L of 98RON fuel in the tank and see how that goes, just in case there is water in the tank.

I really doubt its an octane problem, worth a try though..

Maybe the injectors are clogged due to bad/dirty fuel?
Put some injector cleaner in there as well :p

Pump out all the fuel if nothing else works.

By the way, have you checked for ECU error codes?

Short the ECU plug under the passenger dash and look for a flashing error code from the dash engine light.

If the S2k is OBDII, you can't use that method to read the code.

EuroDude
06-12-2006, 09:13 PM
How do you do it on OBDII systems?

Is the euro OBDII?

aaronng
06-12-2006, 09:25 PM
Yes, Euro is OBDII. You need to use an OBDII scan tool or the Honda HDS tool.

why did you even fill the car up with the wrong fuel to begin with?

hypo

What do you mean by unleaded petrol IN YOUR GARAGE?

I am guessing that it was contaminated with something else, that's why your car is not starting now.

hypo

it was my mistake my tank was empty with nothing and i thought i used normal unleaded and i was wrong and didnt start

could have been rust infested, or even 2-stroke lawnmower fuel lol

hypo dude, best to drain whatever it was, rather than risk damage to the engine

.::F[L]Y::.
06-12-2006, 10:13 PM
would also be advisable for you not to rev the engine past 4k for a few hundred kms until all the unleaded/bad fuel is out of the system.

hypo
06-12-2006, 10:22 PM
yea i see in the morning i roll it around so the booster can get a mix into the fuel line if it dont then i drain the it out

ECU-MAN
06-12-2006, 10:23 PM
S2000 wil still start with regular unleaded, just cant drive it hard

if you car ran dry out of fuel you may have killed the fuel pump

hypo
06-12-2006, 10:24 PM

Purchase one of those water pumps that they sell at fish aquariums for $20.
pump out all the petrol.
clean your fuel pumps and bleed your fuel lines.

add octane petrol.

hypo
06-12-2006, 10:29 PM

EuroDude
06-12-2006, 10:37 PM
Yeh Autobarn

06-12-2006, 10:44 PM
you add a hose to the end of it

aaronng
06-12-2006, 10:56 PM
Do it properly and use a hose that long enough to come out of the fuel filler hole. Otherwise the hose might drop off and fall into the tank. LOL

rofl was thinking that too. similar to dropping a toothbrush down the intake manifold when cleaning a throttle body

But that's easy. You can just unbolt the intake manifold to remove it. Dropping the hose into the fuel tank on the other hand.... HAHAHAH

Unleaded fuel from a servo shouldn't prevent the car from starting, it's got to be something else.
