Civic SOHC Vtec Radiator Options

Hey guys im looking to purchase a new radiator mine fcuked up!

basically i got a d15b sohc vtec, looking to turbo it soon next 2/3 months.

i was thinking of getting this radiator :

can any1 point out what i should be looking for

i see its 2.25 thick.. thicker the better?


PS... i know i can get a KOYO on but aint wanting to spend 500 for a radiator

budget is about $250 for a radiator, and no i dont have aircon but plan to, so i aint looking for the wider than stock ones

told stock is 1.25? the ones im planning to get 2.25 or 2.5

use the EK radiator
twice as think as your EG.

if your going turbo dont waste money on a cheap one seen as your going to be pushing alot more hp out of your engine. are you going to do bottom end or just bolt on a turbo at low boost? I had put a pwr radiator which was 1/2 the size of factory one along with a oil cooler and the car operated cooler than a standard engine. My advise is not to skimp on quality hoses and equipment as a failure later on is more expensive than spending the money in the first place. even using top of the line everything my engine let go at 5000k's because of the mechanic and the harmonic balancer suggest you do some more research first

If you're replacing your stock radiator for any purpose, there's not point spending any money at all on plastic, especially if you're gonna be putting lots of pressure through it. My friends EF8 plastic radiator split and keeps splitting after each patch up job just from a stock engine load. Aluminium or copper is the only logical way to go.

If you are going to put heaps of boost through your engine you might want to consider raising your radiator budget a little. Honda engines haven't been designed with boost in mind, so you need to place a little more emphasis on cooling in my humble e-mechanic opinion. Just about every single component you can change/upgrade/modify on Hondas provides endless options, so you can never do too much research.

how much do you think or recommend any radiators

from what i can and heard 2.25 aluminium should be good, if i got a spare 500 go for koyo, but 500 is abit to much for me.. i gues sim looking at sumtin that will be sufficient and i dont plan to run turbo boost more that 6/7 psi

on an import magazine im reading they turbo'd a civic, and the radiator they replaced cost 750. So in regards to prive it depends on how much power you want to achieve. If your going to run a crazy setup obviously an expensive radiator is required

You dont need an aftermarket radiator unless you plan on having the ultimate N/A tuned car that will be visiting the track every weekend spending all its time at 9000+RPM.

For $250 I got an OEM EK4 Radiator(New).
