i dont often ask for help, but SRS and airbags are quite daunting and major safety factor...

so i want an ITR steering wheel as it is smaller diameter for improved driving control and feel...

as far as i can tell the wheel is a direct swap.

but i have seen some nice s.wheels for sale "without inflator unit"

i guess this is the airbag itself? or is it something else???

and my question is - is the inflator unit unique to the s.wheel or can i use my VTiR one in the ITR s.wheel?

and if not - can an inflator unit be sourced easily?

steering wheel will bolt up directly... i have an obd1 car, and had to set the srs reel at a an off centre position. it may be an issue in your car too.

as for the inflator, i know you can set off an airbag wheel by running current into the plug ;)

so my best guess is that the inflator is actually that whatsi-dooby that explodes when you have a car accident i.e. it's inside that enclosure at the back, on the inside of airbag wheels.

when you turn teh key, does your SRS light come on for 6ish seconds then go out still?

We shall never talk about SRS again....

OBD1 car. It's got different sensors and controllers for the SRS unit, different plug too... There's no (easy) way of getting the momo airbag functional in my car.

the inflator is the part that holds the airbag, ( air bag itself )

if they have quotes without inflator, you will have to get a new one, this will cost about 800ish, so its not realy worth it.

if your intergra wheel has the SRS ECU on the back of the inflator then you cant put on an ITR wheel

if however if has the SRS ECU on the floor just near the bulkhead then you can.

its the SRS ECU location that counts
