i'm pretty sure it's the same thing if your put your name as the primary, as in same price.

Called up the insurance company, answer was no.
Car must be in dad's name in order for the cheaper price, so for everyone's future reference, if you want cheaper insurance under parents name, car has to be regoed in their name..
stupid companies, looks like third party for me..

who you insured with mate?
the registered owner doesnt have anything to do with it, its got to do with the Policyholder.
you can insure the car under your dads name and have you as a noted driver

If you can't afford full comp insurance you can't afford to own that car.

I was insured with NRMA when i had my Accord.
I asked them, if the car was under my name and i wanted to put the policy under my dad's name, would it be allowed?
The lady said to me, it has to be under the person who the car is registered to.
Something about fraud or some shit..

You try insuring anything under your own name if you're 18.

Don't talk to me about insurance.
i pay 1900 bucks a year. and i'm only 20

hmm thats od, with racv i insured my commodore under my mums name and the cars in my dads name, and im a weekend driver. they didnt say nothing, except emphasize how it may work out cheaper if i put the insurance in my name (when having an accident)

there's a big jump from 1 year driving exp to 2 years.
1900 is nothing, i paid 2,000 for my Accord earlier this year.
I don't see the problem in trying to lower the costs of insurance that i pay for.
JasonGilholme
12-12-2006, 07:05 PM
neither do i man. if i could get mine lower i would but i can't.
What i'm trying to say, and alot of OH members will agree with me, is that you will regret not getting full comp insurance when you crash your car and it'll end up costing you alot more.

Insurance is there for a very valid reason.

Yeah, i know...
AAMI, Allianz wouldn't touch me
NRMA quoted me 7600, Just Cars quoted me 4962..
Might have to go with 3rd Party Fire and Theft for now...
sux0rs..
marte
12-12-2006, 07:17 PM
allianz i think they make u go on 3rd party for a year then u can go for full comp.
and btw holy crap at ur prices after 3 years thats your car =O
off the top of my head theres a company i think its just insurance i hear there pretty good.

12-12-2006, 07:19 PM
Are you ringing them up for a qoute or are you using the internet based ones.
The internet based ones are shit. They always overprice.
marte
12-12-2006, 07:23 PM
btw i forgot to add, allianz wont give u full comp if your a first time insurer.
But if u've had insurance before (for more then 12 months) then they'd usually insurer you after getting a record check etc.

12-12-2006, 07:25 PM
Nah, i've been calling all these places up..It's crazy
Was looking good when NRMA said 3,700 with my name as the main driver..
Till i called again just to confirm if the car was in my name would it be the same, they said the latter...

12-12-2006, 08:20 PM
thats odd stoodamire
when i worked for aami that wasnt the policy, and i now work for gio and its not the policy
CTP needs to be in the registered owners name, but not car insurance
stoodamire
12-12-2006, 11:16 PM
Hmm, i'll give GIO a call and see what they say..
Thanks dude

true youngandcool as well
$2777 is what i pay on my VTi-R, 20 years old. Imho, cant afford the insurance, cant afford the car. You should really have factored insurance into the eqn before u got it man...
EItherway, that isnt what this is about...
I am pretty sure that the car doesn't need to be in the registered owners name, however you may find with some policies, its cheaper to just put it in your name, than list you as a drive under you parents names.
Remember insurance is all up to statistics and numbers.

the DC2R will be the shittest car they insure
majority of their customers are ferraris and porsches
my mates EK4 got rejected purely cause it was "too shit"

also Ryno allows you to pay extra for the track days you go on
most insurers don't have that option.

For people who live in adelaide, where RAA is based. It is easy to have your insurance policy with your parents name and you as a noted driver. Right now my dc2r insurance only cost 450ish dollar.

rykerz > Any updates? My insurance is due soon and I would like to know how you manage to get $450 insurance for a DC2R. All the quotes I have gotten from other companies are over the 1k mark and thats me putting the insurance under my folks name(My folks have no accident history, no claims 30 year customer) We have all insurances with this company and their quote was no way near your $450 mark. It will be good for you to post ur info here as so all other ozhonda members can benefit from this $450 insurance.
EDIT : I saw your post http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?p=955021#post955021 and figured its full comprehensive you were refering to.
I received a quotation from RACV. I asked them to price match and they owned me with this statement "with every single possilbe and MAXIMUM discount even CEO discount of the company. $1090.38, even if the location they live in is the safest and never had an accident the the last 20 years...it can't be 450"
Can any adelaide boys confirm this?

haha all insurance company uses a risk value for all veh to determine the cost of premium, u'll be suprise, a 1992 EG have a higher risk value than 2000 DC2R, the risk is determine by how many claims and accidents there's been for the particular veh. I've ran a dummy quote through at where i work, value's i've put in ar:
1999 honda integra type r (cheapest type r to insure)
45y.o. female driver with 27 years of driving experiend (by stats, females are safer drivers...erm...)
vehicle kept at wheeler hill ( this is a fairly low risk suburb)
market value ( shit pay out if total lost but cheapest type of comp insurance)
discounts (now i've put the max discount any CEO of my company can legally give within the company's policy):
MAX no claim bonus for a 45 yo
15% years of insurance discount (max...again )
multi policy disount 10% ( only apply if they have home policies but i just put that in too)
result"
ANNUAL PREMIUM $1090.30 ( this is without adding a younger driver on the pol...if i add it on..it'll be about 1500 or so..at lease depending on the age of coz)
where i work..is not always cheap but even if u go to other companies...i think the lowest u can get is properly 1-200 off...maybe 300
