I don't drive a civic, i drive an 01 accord. currently its got 15s. lol! haha.. but i've got 17s at home waiting to be put on. I specifically chose 17s because of many reasons, performance, weight, cost, long term cost (tyres).

Honestly fret, its not hard to find a civic out there with 17/18" mags. Regardless, its personal taste & price that makes the final decision.

So if you have the money, like a style, buy the shit and show it off.

Since this is the first time I mod car, I'm worried abt too much thing.

I hav quite a reasonable budget to get what I want but I'm not sure if what I want will look good. I'm thinking of 17" but will it look too small???

If you're after all show no go, then 18's or bigger.
If you're after all go, some show, then light weight 17's.
17's will also have cheaper tyres and attract less attention by the boys in blue.

actually 17 is quite small on a FD
18 maybe just enough if u got full bodykit and lower it to the max....

19" will be the best in my opinion.....u will regret with 18.......
ppl may say performace etc(i know,i use 15 on my dc2r & ek,ed too)
but seriously,19" look good on FD

Most bling bling 18's are real heavy and will effect braking and handling as well. Actual weight will depend on what you get but the more expense the lighter generally. Also consider it might be only 4-5kg's difference per wheel between the 2 but that counts for 16-20kg's in total and being wheels equates to 100kg's+ in the car itself.

no matter what ones you choose have the car engineered to save youself hastles with the possibilities of the local defect units.

oh and 17's look hot :) and theres heaps of choices for rims and tyres in 17's.

This thread kind of puts my 15 inch alloys I just ordered to shame :( for my Civic. Oh well I didnt want the extra expense of new tyres as well at this stage.

17s would be the best if your wanting to keep ya handling. they still look great! get it lowered and if you wanna make it look good.. try a lip kit or aftermarket bodykit. look awesome and still has its handling.

if your strictly after looks/cruiser then by all means get 20s and dump it on its ass with a kit! :D but ya handling goes bye bye.

even if you've got struts. if you compare to 17s that you may/may not have you'll notice a huge difference.

hope that helps.

Arghhh, my mind was set to 18" last night when I saw one of the civic in the gallery. Now, you make me can't decide again :(

How expensive is the lightest 18"? any idea?

Just for your information: I don't have much time to look around for wheels because I work full time and usually work overtime on sat so there is no time really to ask the question to the wheel experts in the shop.

So thanks for everyone. Your response has been very helpful

Really really light 18's can be almost $1000 per rim. I've seen really light weight 17's selling for $3K inc tyres 2ND HAND!

Do a search for a thread on here posted some time ago about weights of all popular rims. It was a site that had rims listed in size order and weight order. If you can find it then you look at 18's rims and find the lightest. That would be your best compremise between weight and size.

I can't find the thread, but I came across a thread regarding fake wheel. This add to my problem of buying wheel. Will place like bob jane sell replica or fake one?

Actually depending on your needs.. budget..
If you don't really use you car for track purpose, why would you choose the lightweight rims? But if you have the budget, you wouldn't regret to get one.. and get 18"++, believe me.. 18" is just too small ...

Yeah go for the 19's if you want it for show...but make sure its the right offset, though the tyres may cost you a fortune if you getting some good ones...

Aco3n: But the 18's on your car looks really nice...

i change the springs with eibach sportline kit.. that's it.. hmm .. and put spacer on the rear wheels.. just to make it 'a bit' phat looking..

if I'm not mistaken.. the black civic should be in singapore rite? the best one I know up to now.. I really like it

Do the sportline springs kit come in different model or just one model?
Do you have more pics of your car? I wan't to have a look :P

eibach has the pro kit which is 1" drop, or sportline with 1.4" drop (as per manual). You will be better of to go with the coilover if you have the budget.. shoot xiaohung a pm.. I think he's got one..
The thing is these kits are not designed for the sedan.. they are for the civic SI (USDM). Unfortunately, I do not have any more photos of the car, but that's how she looks like at the moment..

I decided to get 18".

How australian made wheels such as rjr (rodney jane racing) compare to japanese made wheels?

Where to get japanese made wheel in Perth? Is there any secret shop? Most shop (bob jane, bureau repairs) don't sell them?
