View Full Version : what kind of speaker terminal is this?

any ideas how this terminal works?
didn't know it was a terminal. lol.
until i took out the sub, and saw that speaker wires were going to it.
2 svc subs were going into this plug/terminal.

where do i find the other half of this type of terminal?

or am i totally wrong about it being a speaker terminal.

Dick smith/tandy or jaycar would have the other half of that.

Got no idea on that one... If it was me i'd probably be using a couple strips of wire and a battery to test which is +/-.

That my friend is a Speakon connector jay car sell them and that is my sub box too thats a single circuit one to "NL2" it will be on the back of that that has + and -


Edit - The centre circle is Positive



Also when u have the male connector put in and turn it clockwise. I have pics of the male connector if u need them.



These are used in Pro audio any more info u need?

Spend the money and get the Neutrik branded one the others break really easiler.

cannon jack, hot (as its called) is positive, read the user guide :)

speakon or neutrik is a copy of the other (if that makes sense), try and get the original. thank me later :)

Neutrik are the original makes of that type of connector Cannon connector is a 3pin connector eg Mic lead.

so that's what i need?
jsut a quick q, how do the wires go inside? just disasemble it and wire it inside corr3ect?

Yep its marked with positive and should be screw down. Just ask the guys at jaycar most of then have an idea or if ur in the hurstville area pm me and ill give u my work details we have then in stock

if you were to wire it to a speaker, you dont have to bother about the + and -...

It would not fry anything, only that the speaker could be out of phase, if you know how to listen to it, you will notice the difference. You can either turn the polarity at the amp or adjust it at your HU if you got some phase settings.

lol, stupid thing.
i bought the other end, then it would only go in half way, so i bought the female side from jaycar and used that one.
=)thanks everyone.
