hey guys a few questions....

im thinking of putting a new cluster but i dont really know if its illegal cause i do have my log book but as its illegal to wind it back i wanted to know is it illegal to change the cluster...

do i need engeneers for a engine convertion...if i do how much will i be looking at....

has anyone seen a carbon fibre roof for a delsol....

From my experience , Ive changed to different clusters with low kms and this is prior to registering the car.

The RTA didnt realyl care, especialyl about the kms on it.

you see people buying JDM clusters all the time and putting it into AUDM cars without probs.

Dont need eng cert if you are in NSW/

CF roof for your car? havent seen one but its possible, but it definately wont be cheap.
I reckon at least 2-3k at start off.

then you will have to get a blue slip for your car.
your only allowed to go 15% above or below your engine capacity before you have to get it engineered.

when my cluster broke i brought a 2nd hand one and replaced the broken parts on my current cluster then i got some kool clear dials had no trouble with transport dept either so hmm

CF roof would be sweet on a delsol, my concern would be how it would mount onto the pillars as well as altering the handling / stability of the car..It may crack easily due to the stresses on the car in general?

hoods and bonnets are separate to the car, but the roof is fairly fundamental i think..??

Sorry i read teh question wrong, was looking at teh cluster comment.

As destrukshn has worded you need eng if 15% above or below original capacity.

D16a to B16a should be fine, just a blue slip.

D16a to B18c you will need one. ( eng cert)

so does this mean if i have done over 200k's on my car and decide to sell my car but get another cluster that reads 130k's, will i get busted for this?

no, I changed the cluster in my old eg 3 times.

Rego'd it twice with diff cluster readings.

RTA didnt question it.

I even told them that the cluster was changed, they said it didn't matter.

in america on custom orders

Carbon fibre crack? carbon fibre is strong, that I don't think it will crack just like that.
put carbon kevlar instead

Sorry i know its old but.

1600cc + 15% = 1840cc therefore from a d16a to a b18c its still under the 15% meaing its still be legal without eng cert.

i changed my cluster before and never an issue with the low reading.
Your supose to get it adjusted, but i've never bothered and RTA never said anything about it since
