yea iv read this but the machine they used to test it isnt designed to test motor oil i thought O_o

but it still is interesting to read that cheap products still protect pretty well...
pretty shocking stuff

The downside of that test is that it is carried out at room temperature, and not at 100ºC. Also, this test is for testing grease, not oils.

Also,

The fact that it was later admitted that the test procedure was not appropriate for engine oil says it all

Have a pinch of salt....

haha, the test is not valid. It was not run as per the proper procedure for using that machine. http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=790778&postcount=69

Nice, I like how they used the wrong tester. Also nice to see the Vavoline Durablend had good results as well as the Royal purple, but too bad the wrong machine was used. Oh how mean to get ones hopes up then shoot them down because of a small minute issue of what machine to use.

They also carried out the test wrongly. They were meant to adjust the load pressure on the sample and not let it scour that badly. I thought that they would have read the instruction manual for the machine if they were doing such a test for a magazine article.

the fact that the oils weren't even tested at operating temp is just a joke. especially in the case of the synthetic oils.
its funny on that forum how so few ppl picked up the flaws and even once they were pointed out it still doesnt process with them

They were Australians, not Americans!! Lol JK!!! If they were Americans they probably wouldn't realize the flaws after being told and would all be driving Camaros and Mustangs with VTEC logos trying to race. Yes I bash on my own people, some are idiots!

I use Royal purple In my LS1 5.7ltr V8
better then any honda ive ownded
its proven to give you 4-5 KW at the wheels with a stock motor
I noticed a differance when i changed it but also did a major service at the same time

also i have noticed this oil doesnt burn and i have it sitting on redline alot of the time, but then agian my motors only got 20,000k's on it

that is simply a sponsored advertisement ~ didn't someone tell them that oil changes viscosity at "working" temperature ?
