What would you do? If you were me

Today I started thinking that down the track, if I want to get sum serious power, I’m going to have to swap in a B16/18 or something along those lines. After searching OH, I found that id be looking at 5-6K plus for that kind of set-up (drive away). 5-6K? That’s a fair bit of cash.

Then I thought, well the 93+ CRX comes with a B16 already in it right? So the resale value of my current civic, plus the 5-6K for the engine swap and I could pick myself up a CRX. Plus the CRX would have all the options that my Cxi didn’t have (Power windows/mirrors etc). But the CRX only has 2 seats, which is both good and bad.

Anyway, what would you do if you were in my position?

Or is this possibility an utter load of shit? Post your input.

yeah mate id keep the civic personally. if resale value in future is what your worried about go the CRX but if not go the civic. im abit bias towards civics though but just thought id add my 2 cents

Thanks fellas, input is what I want. Resale value isnt really a factor, ive already come to terms that Ive got no chance of getting all my money back anyway, civic or crx.

Mo: Nice idea, but I dont want to be sitting on the floor in order to lightweight the car :shock:

Im leaning towards the civic mainly because, well, ive already got it, plus just today ive found it hard to find a CRX with km's below 100K.

Hahah well you can lighten the car in other ways...doesn't have to mean stripping the car complete...

Removing side panels but leaving the back seats in only when you need them, then taking out the rear seats when you go track or something.

Also you can make your car handle much better in result allowing you to take corners (on the track of course ;)) at a much faster speed without understeer etc...

This can all be done at a relatively cheap price whilist saving for a engine conversion but of course...If you take this course...You better be prepared that your resell value might drop even more.

A good set of springs/shocks with some rear sway bars, rear tie bar, front sway bar etc etc bars...no not chocolate bars ;) would improve your handling dramatically...and of course power is not everything (especially in touge...hehehe)

this jam packed with some nice lightweight rims (kept to a size of 15/16) with good tread would make an ultimate handling car in the corners hehehehe

Z, thers 2 types of power in a car man, one power is in the chassis, the other is in the engine. ;)

like pornstar.... although people say power isnt everything, it matters in the end. ie. the straight, the turbo cars will just munch you up, not so much on corners etc.... although with n/a you can just keep stepping on the gas and not worry bout problems u get with turbo cars.... anyway another option is turboing the car, then setting up the sussy.... or like you mentioned, engine swap.... stripping the car and lightening it is a good start, but i doubt your going to get far with a d16y4 unless you spend a fair bit of money on it :D

Stripping the car would be a good place to start hehehe...then sussy/wheels and lastle engine conversion with brake upgrade (ie braided lines, bigger discs, rear dsic conversion [CXi has drums on back] etc)

sell your car buy and EF civic and put in a b18c5.. and then your set to probably(not sure "all motor" if its still around) be the fastest NA on this forum...gunning for 12 or low 13's...all with a budget for about 10k hahaha
