I'm looking at the Euros in Japan and over here when you buy the Euro Accord, I'm surprised that there are two important optional features on the cars which I think we'll never see in Aust.
1) HiDS - not to be confused with HID headlights, this is the same driver assist hardware as they have on the Legend, where the computer uses a CMOS camera to check the distance or obstacles infront of the car, to warn/slow down the Euro Accord, with warning lights and all. I couldn't believe this type of safety feature can't be bought as an option in Aust... its really useful.
2) Now onto the real HIDS - in the Japanese model, some of the Euro's HIDs will turn the focus in relation to the steering angle, so that you could look better into the corner that you're turning into. Some of the higher end BMWs have this feature as well, but I never knew its avail on the Euro.
3) Euro R - this is well known already, but I think I want to have a Helical LSD on my Euro as well... :(
4) You could purchase those Metal/Grey Plastic covers that fit inside the Euro around the door trim and above the glove box, etc. Is that an option in Aust? The build quality is really good and it looks better than the more plasticky ones they use on the beamers.... :p
Anyhow, I just think we're missing out on some interesting optionssss...!

If they added all those funky options and released a super-lux model, would you buy the Euro for $58,000 instead of $43000 ?
In AUS, the Euro needs to stay at a competitive price to sell well. I mean look at the new Legend, hardly any have been sold simply because there are so many other models (BMW, Lexus, etc..) to choose from.

Option 4 is available through any Honda Dealership, although they will charge and arm and a leg. I believe I was quoted either 550 or 700 when we purchased our Euro and that in mid 2005. There was a few (or might've been just one) online store that sold something like that for about half the price although i'm not sure if it was genuine or an aftermarket kit.

You can get the trims cheap online, cant remember where though.
There was a thread about it in the Accord section somewhere.

267 + 147 = 414, but that excludes shipping... ok so maybe it's not THAT much cheaper after all... lol

A few other nice features/options they have on the JDM Euro:
- Keyless Card entry system where once the card is within range, the start/ignition button becomes enabled.
-Auto headlights (really should've had this one).
- Lane 'creep' warning system - where there's a camera located in front of the rear view mirror and when travelling between say 70-120, if it detects you're about to creep out of your lane it'll send a bit of counter torque to the steering wheel (electric steering system). There's a warning that it doesn't well very well in fog though! lol. I can imagine it'd be a headache to allow drivers to learn to 'rely' on the system though. Imagine the lawsuits!

I let myself be suckered in and ordered the silver panels with the car. Certainly not worth the $500-600, but I really like them.
I wouldn't have let myself do it if I'd thought it through! lol

Manufacturing cost in China/Thailand/Japan = $20
Freestock Cost to Honda Aus = $90
Honda Dealer purchase price = $180
Honda Dealer RRP = $300
Honda Dealer actual sell price = $600
They are estimated, but u get the idea ;)

Yeah I know. It went some way towards negating my "best deal" on the price of the car. Having said that, I still got the car for quite a bit less than what the first 2 dealers could offer me with just mats. Plus there was the comprehensive... :)

It's a good time to buy a Euro(or any car)at the moment.I The only catch is that in about 2 weeks the car is an 06 model(it's 1 year old).is it man or AT,std.or lux, what colour?

When I got my Euro, I think I payed like $600 for the silver trim, car mats and boot liner. I "supposedly" got these at dealer cost. By the sound of it, I probably did.

The only problem is that the euro's side airbags are in the seat, unless they make recaro's with airbags these days ;) (its illegal to remove safety equipment)

Yeah these are the other features available. I had the catalogue but I prob won't carry it back its too heavy.
That Lane Creep warning system will work very well for those with 'drift right' within 6 sec problems doesn't anyone think? haha. We should ask Honda to fit one of those for free on our cars!
The Keyless Card entry is good too. In fact, they also have a Start Button included!!! Anyway, in Aust, this option is now available on the higher end Toyota Aurions.... there is no reason why Euro Accord in Aust shouldn't have it.
The thing is - these are all options - so it doesn't make sense to say it might cost $58000 and therefore it wouldn't sell as its above $45000. First of all, it might not end up being so expensive, but only $50000. Don't forget that there are people who bought the standard version Euro for $33000-35000 range, so does that mean people wouldn't buy the Lux version?
The older model Honda Legend weren't any good and thus they didn't sell well. I don't think it is a valid comparison. The latest Legend is selling really well in Japan and in the States. I think when people buy a car, theythink about Value For your Bucks. The IS250 Lexus is selling well because it looks good and is good, but cheaper than the German equivalent. The Legend with the AWD system and a big engine, but affordable price, will do as well as the IS250 I think!

Yeah, though the free comprehensive, 5yr warranty and on roads soften the impact somewhat on an already very competitive package. I was cross shopping with a Jetta TFSI, Golf GTI and an 07 3.0 liberty and in terms of value the others don't come close (try adding some of the options on the VW's! HIDs, leather, sunroof). Another one I would've seriously considered is the CX-7. Seriously damn good value I reckon - 6 speed auto, MPS motor, very nice styling... 39-45k. But I don't need a 13.6l/100km 4wd. :)
I bought a Silver AT Lux w/Nav :)

Nice.I was too tight to spend extra $3k on nav.I spent it on mods instead.:p

$3000 for nav :o
Better off getting a TomTom GPS for $500 and spend the rest on an Audio/speaker/Amp/iPod upgrade, then the other $1500 on a sports lip kit or upgraded rims ;)

Better than I imagined but would still prefer heated leather ones!
But the car looks nothing like a conventional sporty shape, so I think adding the racy looking mods to it doesnt suit the style. Stock + darkest tint + lowered + some better wheels is probably perfect for the Euro.

You only need seat heaters if you have leather. The Recaros are not leather, so they don't need heaters.
Euro is a cornering machine. Probably corners better than most sedans, except the E46 3 series. Its suspension is pretty stiff and bumpy when stock, so it's not really a comfortable sedan like the Accord VTi and V6.
I prefer a comfy ride if trying to make it vip-style.

Auto headlights are no good for HID's, all the other features they should be able to offer as a option at least, then its up to you how much to spend.
I paid $48 for my M06 Lux with mats, rear sensors, tints and sat nav in December 05, still not bad value when you compare it to others in the market like Audi's.

If that.
I went and had a look at the silver trim pieces at a dealer back in 2004 (seems so long ago now...). They are an absolute ripoff when you consider that they are basically thin pieces of silver-painted plastic with double-sided tape underneath. They are designed to just stick on top of the existing trim, but I'm not sure how that works with the door panels...

And the E46 3-series wasn't that much better to drive than the Euro, especially considering the price. I test-drove a 330i (amongst other 3-series) almost back to back with a Euro. The 330i was better, but not $50k better. And in several of them had auto box had nasty shift-shock when pulling up to a stop (downshifting ?->1) - certainly not what I'd expect from a $100k+ car...
