I borrowed my step dads VTI EG today and it looks like he hasn't had the car serviced in 18k/kms

I pulled out the dipstick and the oil was black as pitch. I have some honda FEO 10w30 and an oil filter for use in my b16a2 lying around. I was wondering if these are suitable for the d16y8? I don't like driving these cars around with bad oil, they dont' feel right.

How many kms has it done in total?

if not that many, buy some engine oil flush. Pour it in, run the engine for a little while and then change the oil.

I find when changing the oil in the GF's Coupe that it takes around 3.5-4 litres of oil to fill it up again.

Oh, I forgot to ask how come your dad's eg as a D16y8?

I thought they were only in EJ Coupes?

rt is correct, its a y1.
yeah around 4L's they take, a tad over. FEO is fine, replace the filter while ur at it, its a Z79A

and also, pitch black oil only means its doing its job!

Don't you have an oil filter remover?

I'm sure you have a friend that owns one...

Oil filters should be tightened by hand and not over tightened...
