The other week i had an 'incident' with a curb:

So today i took off the wheel to descover greece all over the place... :(

Anyway. is this greece caused by simply the break in the rubber piece:

Or is it more fundamental than that? Have i damaged the CV? Any ideas what a replacement one is worth?

if you hear ticking noises when you turn around corners then u have a busted cv joint.

It is normal for grease and oil to spew everywhere when u have split ure cv boot. Change it sooner rather than later to prolong the life of your cv's.

just get a changeover reco'd driveshaft. they are about $135 if you can fit it yourself or the average workshop would prolly charge around $280 fitted

your cv joints should be fine so far, looks to me like u just cracked the cv boot,
the condom looking thing,
would be better to change the whole thing i guess, if ur gonna take it out anyway.
i have a couple drive shafts + cv's lying around the house.. if ya want pm me..

if there not clicking then just change the boot would be waste of money to change the cv joint ..since they cost about $150 new and around $80 for used. so if they dont click while doin u turn or anythign just change the boot for like $30 or so

^^ agreed. Get the boot replaced and filled with grease ASAP!!! Without grease, the CV joint will die very quickly.
