Hi guys

I would liek to inspect my timing belt, however without getting the car up on a hoist etc, is there a easy to get a peak, its a b16a2 by the way.
The top of the cover appears that it is actually connected to the whole rocker cover is this correct or are they seperate, idont a search but didnt really find much for b16a2.
any help appreciated.

The very top bit is apart of the rocker cover. There should be another plastic piece below that that you should be able to remove. not sure if you need to take the crank pulley out tho.

How many k's has it done??? If its close to 100,000k's just replace it. saving a few hundred bucks here will cost you a few thousand when it actually snaps.

nah its only done 60,000kms but its a 2000 model so manufactuar says 100,000km or 6 years, so i just wanna have a quick look see if the belt looks like its cracking if not i wouldn't worry about it just check at 80k, but if cracking i change

Unscrew the two bolts that hold the plastic cover on, and you should be able to lift it up and view the timing belt.

At 60,000km it should be fine though. My friends Civic still has the original timing belt at 210,000km and hasn't snapped (yet) lol

Just remove the rocker cover, 8 nuts.

remove the 2 10mm bolts holding top cover on(which is below rocker cover) yank it out, check it and then replace cover.

if its totally fecked it probably make some noises like mine did

as for removing the whole rocker cover maybe not just upon an inspection, new gasket = too much work for inspection
however i will remove those two bolts and check it out, yeh i dont think she making much noise

you dont have to replace the rocca caover gasket if you take it off, resuse it.

removing the rocca cover is the best method, less fiddly

yeh i think your spot on ecu man with out taking off hoses and i dont even think it will clear the engine mount that middle cover will not come out i think i will just pull the rocker cover off looks alot easier.
i will prob get a new gasket just for good measure

if your going to the trouble to change the gasket do it propery and replace the 4 spark plug O rings as well, otherwise you could have problems

not really worth changing the gasket, just use it again and put ultra grey on the cornes of the cam jurnals
