Comparing the EG Si and VTI
they got the same power output and almost the same amout of torque
however, seeing as the EG Si is a DOHC engine compared to the SOHC VTI. Which one goes harder?

in past threads it has been told that the VTI keeps pulling longer, so while the SI is shifting, VTI is still pulling, which gives the advantage

did the EG Si's come with sunroof as standard or aftermarket ?

I saw a EH Si a while back for sale with a sunroof, wondering if sunroof is standard just like the EH VTI?

VTECCCC'!

Both are good la, if you've got the extra $$$ and don't mind some extras then go for the VTi, otherwise go for the Si la =)

Si = raw DOHC fury :p

Ive heard that the SOHC is a bit slower at low RPM and u need to rev it high to get good power, whereas the Si is a bit better at low revs, i.e. in traffic.

But both are very similar, get either one :)

Difference is minimal, if you do the conversion and want it cheaper all up, get the Si, if you want extras and got the $$$ for a newer car, VTi =)

LOL... i paid 9k for my VTI and ripped the motor out 2 weeks later..
with the Si i would have saved my self a bit more cash but hey i got a sunroof :)..

D16y1 is a nice little plant easily beat a 1.8lt lancer and couple of v6 commos before i went B18c way

locote you should have ran the D16y1 down the 1/4 to see what you would get, would have been good for comparison.

thats a quick conversion..
im assuming conversion of the motor is pretty popular amongst the EG'

for no hassle coversion get a VTI
the VTi already runs VTEC so no need to fix up the wiring and shit

you serious sunroof adds 50kg?

big chunk of glass as opposed to a sheet of metal, another moter, all the extra rails etc, but most of all, all that extra reinforcment needed for having a gaping hole in your roof. [On that note, we cut the roof off a VL not to long ago, and watched it visibly sag as we were cutting]

I still love my sunroof though

The drags werent open here in WA when i got my civic...
and i couldnt wait to get the B18c in it as they arent very easy to come by here in WA..
If i was to do it again id turbo and build the D16y1 or leave the B18c N/A..
Ive spent far too much money that ill never see again lol...
specialy when im only running 6psi it realy anoys me cause i wanna run more.

well run more then haha wat sort of power u pulling?

locote

hahah.. im scared of my motor goin boom, specialy with the heat waves we get here in perth...
I think the setup still needs more time and $$ spent on it. needs to be tuned on a laptop as its only been tuned with the hand controller.
need a larger exhaust aswell..
The dyno i had it tuned in is a low reading dyno i pulled 165whp from 120whp NA...
managed a 14.2@96mph N/A and 13.9@103mph turbo... i was getting traction NA but...
Once all the christmas and new years hectic time is over ill take it to get tuned at a different workshop that uses the correct software and i might raise the boost to 10psi...
For 6psi in quite happy with it as ive kept up with a couple of clubsports and beaten 2 S15s and skylines
