hey all:
my car has got a whirling/whining noise (high pitch, whistle)while drving , the noise follows the accelerator, starts from the low rpm, it is not really loud, but i can hear it clearly . As soon as i release the accelerator pedal, the sound gone. i let it idle the other day, and put my head next to the gearbox and let my friend pedal clutch in ,out, i could not hear much differeence (also let a friend listen from gear stick) nothing much, i also revved the engine and listen to it (cos my timing belt got changed few weeks ago, it started getting ther noise after that, i swear before i never heard pf of it ) could not hear that whining noise , listen to the alternator as well.........but when i drving , 3000rpm constantly i can hear it , anyone got any idea, cheers

By the way, it also sound like when i down shift , release clutch sound

the thing i don't understand is , the sound will disseappear when i release the accelrator, so that means the shaft still connect (unlike the clutch engage), so yeah, any other opinions please

that means something is "rubbing" under load. its not ur ISB dude
Since this noise happens since you got a new front end i suspect something there is rubbing ( bumper/plastic/etc)

Hmm...its very unlikely that the noise comes from the gearbox after installing that timing belt + new water pump etc.
If thats the case probably timing belt is a bit tight. Should loosen up in time

Ill definitly look into this.....however u should notice this when u are at idle and revving it provided u havent got a loud zorst and intake

when they did your timing belt they usually have to take off your accessory belts...

mayb the tensioner on them or the adjuster is faulty

or the acc belts are too tight..
